The doors opened the rest of the way before Cassia reached them, the giant stone archway and her future stood in front of her.
Jeric was already in the waiting chamber with two guards near the entrance to the Grand Hall. He wore black formal clothing with silver accents embedded through the front and cuffs, the Valmont crest fixed over his chest. His sword was still at his side, which was probably necessary, but still felt like something only Jeric would bring to his own wedding.
Cassia stopped for half a breath, then forced herself to keep moving.
Madam Flurret stepped beside her and adjusted the edge of the veil once more. "This is as far as I go."
Cassia turned her head slightly. "You're not coming in?"
