Chapter 13 - chapter 13: USJ incident

The bus ride to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint (USJ) was a hum of nervous energy. Most students were discussing their Quirks, but Kenji sat in the back, his eyes closed. To his classmates, he looked like he was napping. In reality, he was in a Pre-Combat Loading Screen.

After the Battle Trial, Kenji had realized his current "Build" was too reliant on structured, predictable physics. To face real villains, he needed something darker. He had spent the last 48 hours in his grandfather's most dangerous reconstruction: Bloodborne (The Nightmare Edition).

The "Export" from that game had changed him. His movements were twitchier, his reflexes tuned to "Rally" logic—the ability to recover health by immediately striking back. His Soul Pool had taken on a pale, moonlight silver hue.

"Everyone, stay back!" Aizawa shouted as the central fountain of the USJ sputtered and died, replaced by a swirling void of purple mist.

Kenji's Focus HUD didn't just beep; it screamed.

[WARNING: HIGH-LEVEL AREA DETECTED]

[BOSS ENCOUNTER INITIATED: THE LEAGUE OF VILLAINS]

[THREAT LEVEL: CALAMITY]

Dozens of low-level thugs warped into the plaza, but Kenji's eyes were locked on the center. A man covered in severed hands stood there, and beside him, a mountain of black, exposed muscle with a bird-like beak.

"That's not a person," Kenji whispered, his Cybernetic Scan failing to find a heartbeat. "That's a biological machine."

> TARGET: Nomu

> TYPE: Bio-Engineered Construct

> QUIRK(S): Shock Absorption, Super Regeneration

> STATUS: INVULNERABLE TO PHYSICAL LOGIC

>

"Thirteen! Protect the students!" Aizawa leaped into the fray, his scarf snapping like a whip.

Before the students could retreat, the mist villain, Kurogiri, expanded. "I'm afraid I cannot allow that. We are the League of Villains, and we have come to kill the Symbol of Peace."

The world blurred. Kenji felt the familiar tug of a "Warp Trigger." He slammed his fist into the ground, using Dragonborn Density to anchor himself, but the portal was stronger. He was swallowed by the purple void.

Part I: The Downpour Zone (Hunter's Instinct)

Kenji landed in the Downpour Zone, a simulated city gripped by a permanent hurricane. He wasn't alone. Tokoyami and Koda were with him, surrounded by thirty villains on the rooftops.

"We're surrounded!" Koda squeaked.

"No," Kenji said, his voice dropping an octave as he initiated the Bloodborne Layer. "They're trapped in here with a Hunter."

He reached into his "Inventory"—a localized rift in space allowed by his System—and pulled out a collapsible weapon he'd "crafted" in the Hidden Library. It was a jagged cleaver that hummed with a serrated, mechanical heat.

[ACTIVATING: TRICK WEAPON LOGIC]

[SKILL: OLD HUNTER BONE]

As the villains lunged, Kenji didn't use a Shout. He vanished in a puff of silver mist. This wasn't the Whirlwind Sprint; it was the Quickstep. He moved with a stuttering, frame-skipping grace that left the villains swinging at air.

Slash. Rip. Pivot.

He moved through the crowd like a razor through silk. He wasn't aiming to kill, but he was hitting "Critical Points" highlighted by his HUD. Every time a villain grazed him, Kenji's Rally System kicked in. He didn't feel the pain; he channeled the adrenaline into a counter-attack that "restored" his stamina.

"He's... he's terrifying," Tokoyami muttered, Dark Shadow hovering protectively. "He fights like he's starving."

Within three minutes, the Downpour Zone was silent. The villains lay groaning in the rain.

"Tokoyami, Koda, stay here," Kenji commanded. "I need to get to the plaza. Aizawa-sensei is fighting a Boss he can't beat."

Part II: The Physics of Despair

Kenji arrived back at the central plaza just in time to see the unthinkable. The Nomu had Aizawa pinned. The sound of bone snapping echoed through the dome.

"Sensei!" Kenji roared.

He didn't hesitate. He bypassed the "Safe Mode" of his System.

[SYSTEM OVERRIDE: NEURAL BURST]

[MERGING ARCHIVES: SKYRIM + BLOODBORNE + NEON ICARUS]

Kenji launched himself from the top of the stairs. Mid-air, he spoke a Word of Power that shook the glass dome.

"FEIM... ZII... IT!" (Become Ethereal)

The Nomu lunged to intercept him, but its massive fist passed right through Kenji's chest. For three seconds, Kenji was "Ghost Code"—non-collidable data. He passed through the Nomu and landed next to Aizawa, grabbing the teacher and sliding him toward the students.

"Sato... get out of here..." Aizawa wheezed.

Kenji stood up. He was shivering, the strain of merging three contradictory physics engines tearing at his muscles. His skin was glowing with a chaotic mix of golden mana and silver moonlight.

"Tomura Shigaraki," Kenji said, looking at the man with the hands. "Your Nomu has Shock Absorption. It's designed to tank All Might's physical output. High-velocity, high-mass attacks."

Shigaraki scratched his neck nervously. "A brat who knows his math. So what? You can't hurt it."

"You're right," Kenji said, his Focus HUD locking onto the Nomu's exposed brain. "Physical attacks are ineffective. So I'm going to use Stat-Effect Logic."

Part III: The Nightmare Glitch

Kenji reached into his belt and pulled out a small, glowing vial of "Mercury" he'd synthesized using Nephilim Forge. He coated his trick-cleaver in the liquid.

[APPLYING BUFF: PHANTASM SHELL]

[DAMAGE TYPE: ARCANE/ELEMENTAL]

He dashed. The Nomu swung with a speed that exceeded the human eye. Kenji didn't dodge—he Parried.

He used a Quickhack from Neon Icarus to inject a "Lag Spike" into the Nomu's motor neurons, slowing its swing by exactly 12 milliseconds. In that window, he struck the Nomu's wrist with his cleaver.

The cleaver didn't bounce off. Because it was imbued with Arcane Logic, it bypassed the "Shock Absorption" which only worked against physical kinetic energy. The Nomu let out a guttural, confused shriek as a deep, glowing blue gash appeared on its arm.

"WHAT!?" Shigaraki screamed. "How did you cut it!?"

"It's a 'Soft-Cap' exploit," Kenji grunted, his vision blurring. "Your monster has 100% Physical Resistance, but its Elemental Resistance is base-level. It's a build flaw."

Kenji knew he only had seconds. He tapped into his Soul Pool, draining every last drop of energy he had saved since the entrance exam.

"JOOR... ZAH... FRUL!" (Dragonrend)

In the game, this shout forced immortal dragons to ground themselves by making them experience the concept of mortality. When it hit the Nomu, the creature's "Super Regeneration" stuttered. Its cells, momentarily confused by the "logic" of mortality, stopped knitting together.

Kenji lunged, his cleaver transforming into its extended form. He spun like a whirlwind—the Hunter's Axe moveset.

Slice. Slice. Slice.

The Nomu was being carved apart, not by strength, but by "Status Ailments."

Part IV: The Limit Break

But Kenji was at his limit. His Stamina Bar was flashing black. His bones were screaming under the weight of the "Exported" power.

The Nomu, sensing the "Dragonrend" wearing off, lunged one last time. Its beak opened to crush Kenji's head.

Suddenly, the doors of the USJ blew open.

"I AM HERE!"

All Might didn't just enter; he exploded into the room. He saw Kenji, standing bloodied and glowing, holding back a monster that shouldn't be holdable.

"Young Sato! Stand down!" All Might roared.

Kenji collapsed to his knees, his HUD finally going dark.

[SYSTEM CRASH]

[REBOOTING... REBOOTING...]

As All Might engaged the Nomu in a battle that redefined the word "power," Kenji watched with a developer's eye. He saw how All Might didn't use exploits or glitches. He used raw, unfiltered "Admin Privileges." He hit the Nomu so hard and so fast that the "Shock Absorption" couldn't keep up with the frame-rate of the damage.

"Plus... ULTRA!"

The Nomu was launched through the roof, disappearing into the clouds.

Three hours later, Kenji lay in a bed in Recovery Girl's office. He was wrapped in bandages, his body feeling like a PC that had just survived a power surge.

All Might sat in a chair next to him, his form deflated into his "Small Might" state.

"You almost died, Young Sato," Toshinori said, his voice raspy. "That monster was built to kill me. And you... you fought it to a standstill using tricks I've never seen."

Kenji looked at the ceiling. "I didn't fight it, sir. I just... changed the difficulty settings for a moment."

"You have a dangerous gift," Toshinori warned. "The world isn't a game. You can't just 'Respawn' if you break your soul."

Kenji turned his head. His Focus HUD flickered to life one last time before his energy ran out.

[NEW DATA ACQUIRED: ALL MIGHT'S SOURCE CODE (FRAGMENTED)]

[SYSTEM ANALYSIS: THE POWER OF 'ONE FOR ALL' DETECTED]

[COMPATIBILITY: 1%]

"I know," Kenji whispered. "But the world is full of 'Bugs,' All Might. Villains who think they're above the rules. Someone has to be the debugger."

He closed his eyes.
