Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Yamcha: Am I Not Even Worthy of a Name?

Watching Vegeta's receding figure, Trunks couldn't help but feel a sense of loss. After all, he hadn't even had the chance to speak to him... This was the father he had never known.

BOOM!!!

A massive explosion drew everyone's attention back to the battlefield where Son Goku and Cooler were clashing.

"Cooler, leave Earth now. As long as you don't come back to cause trouble, I'll let you go."

Hearing Goku's classic ultimatum, the corners of everyone's mouths twitched.

Trunks asked in confusion, "Is Mr. Goku always like this? Shouldn't enemies be finished off completely?"

The group fell silent. What could they say? After all, Piccolo had been spared by Goku in the exact same way back in the day...

Hearing Goku's words, the veins on Cooler's forehead throbbed. What was the meaning of this? When did the great Lord Cooler ever need the mercy of an enemy? And "leave Earth"?

"You damned wild monkey! You've gone too far!"

"Now, you and this planet can turn into cosmic dust together!"

Cooler raised both hands above his head. Powerful energy began to converge rapidly, forming a dark red sphere of energy that expanded at an incredible rate, eventually blotting out the sky itself.

"Supernova!"

"Die, you filthy monkey!"

Goku looked up solemnly at the Supernova. He could feel that the energy within it was far from ordinary.

"Ka... me... ha... me..."

Goku cupped his hands at his waist and began to gather Ki. A brilliant blue light began to coalesce.

The azure glow grew more dazzling by the second. As the massive energy sphere descended, Goku thrust his palms forward.

"HA!!!"

The blue Kamehameha soared into the sky, colliding head-on with Cooler's Supernova.

As the two energies clashed, a terrifying vortex of power was generated.

The sheer force of the impact caused the Supernova's descent to halt. Then, to Cooler's disbelief, it was slowly pushed back—and then surged upward even faster.

Cooler stared in horror at his own Supernova being forced back toward him. He instinctively tried to hold it back with his hands.

Feeling the overwhelming pressure, Cooler let out a desperate scream. "No!!! How could I lose? How could I die at the hands of a wild monkey like you?! AAAAGH!!"

BOOM!!

Cooler's body was engulfed by the sphere of energy. With a deafening roar, the Supernova and the Kamehameha detonated together in the upper atmosphere.

A massive mushroom cloud bloomed in the sky.

Under the weight of that immense power, Cooler was reduced to nothing but dust.

Turles sensed his own power level increasing and nodded in satisfaction. With a base power level of 1.05 billion, he was effectively invincible in this early stage of the story—especially since he could still transform into a Super Saiyan.

As expected, training can't compare to cheating...

How much power could he gain from a year of hard training? Look at this—he had just gained hundreds of millions in power level simply by watching a fight. One word: "Sweet!"

As the battle ended, the group gathered around Son Goku. Trunks stood there, stunned, as he watched Bulma fly over on her own.

Wait, is this right? My mom can fly? And this Ki... it doesn't seem weak at all? It's almost on par with that scarfaced guy over there...

Yamcha: ???? Am I, Lord Yamcha, not even worthy of a name? What the hell is "scarfaced guy"?!

Turles didn't see it as a big deal. He still had plenty of Fruit of the Tree of Might; boosting Bulma's power level was a simple task. Besides, his system allowed him to gift attribute points.

In the future, he could push Bulma's power even higher, though there wasn't much need for it. Bulma wasn't a fighter, and besides, didn't she have him?

After explaining the events of the future to Goku once more, Goku sighed with a hint of regret. "So I'm supposed to die from a heart virus? What a shame..."

Hearing this, Trunks pulled out the medicine and handed it to him. "Mr. Goku, in the future, the heart virus has been cured. This is the medicine I prepared for you..."

Goku took it and nodded happily. "That's great!"

Trunks smiled. Even though this wasn't his specific timeline, he was happy to see this world doing well. He was familiar enough with Parallel World Theory to understand the situation.

He had just been overwhelmed by the massive amount of information earlier and hadn't reacted in time.

With his heart at ease, he finally revealed his full origins.

Bulma looked at Trunks in disbelief. "I'm going to fall for that arrogant little midget Vegeta? That's unscientific!"

Trunks's mouth twitched. Was his mother always this blunt when she was young?

How was he supposed to respond to that? After all, Vegeta was quite short...

"Mr. Goku, you must train hard. The enemies coming in three years are incredibly powerful..."

"Of course. I'll definitely get stronger."

At that moment, Bulma turned her gaze toward Turles.

"Hubby..."

Turles immediately understood what Bulma wanted. She wanted him to help Trunks.

"Alright, I get it. Don't worry, I'll help him out, okay?"

Bulma beamed instantly. "I knew my husband was the best!"

She even shot Trunks a playful look, as if saying: See? Isn't my husband a million times better than that Vegeta guy?

Trunks was speechless. From their brief interaction, he could tell that Mr. Turles truly loved his mother—he practically doted on her.

"Alright, Trunks. You don't mind staying for one day, do you?"

"One day? What do you mean, Mr. Turles?"

"I'm going to teach you how to train properly. Your foundation is honestly quite poor."

Turles then turned his gaze toward Goku. "Goku, I remember there's a Hyperbolic Time Chamber up on the Lookout, right?"

Goku realized why Turles wanted Trunks to stay for a day.

"I see. You're going to take Trunks into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a day of training... I remember going in there back in the day, but I couldn't handle it for long."

"Exactly. Time is short and the task is heavy, so that's the only place to train him."

"I understand," Goku said. "One day inside is a year of training. It really is a great spot."

The others were shocked. They had no idea such a place existed on the Lookout. Why hadn't they heard of it before?

Seeing the look in Piccolo's eyes, Turles knew what he was thinking. "Forget it, Piccolo. Don't even think about it. You can only enter that place for two days in your entire life. Unless you're strong enough to tear through the dimensions to get out, but you definitely aren't at that level yet."

Piccolo sighed. It seemed he had been overthinking it. A place that defied the laws of nature like that was bound to have its limitations.
