Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: A Power That Brings Death

There was no doubt that both Sayo and Ieyasu were completely stunned by the luxurious mansion before them.

Back in their hometown, they had never seen such extravagant architecture. The level of luxury far exceeded anything they could have imagined.

Compared to their undisguised shock, however, Yoriichi remained calm.

In terms of luxury, the Imperial Capital of the Akame ga Kill world far surpassed the era Yoriichi once lived in during Demon Slayer, even though he himself had been born into a prestigious family.

But Yoriichi had always possessed little interest in wealth or material comforts.

As a result, the Devonshire family's grand estate stirred almost no emotional reaction from him.

And that calm demeanor did not escape Count Kaven Devonshire's notice.

Yoriichi's composure only made Kaven take him more seriously. Clearly, this young man came from a respectable background.

"Aria, is this really your home?"

"It's so big… and so beautiful."

Looking at the mansion, Sayo's face showed a trace of envy.

After all, she was only fourteen. Feeling admiration in the face of such grandeur was only natural.

"Yes, this is our home."

"Kalitan and I are busy with work every day, so Aria often stays home alone. She gets quite lonely."

Kaven wrapped an arm around his wife and daughter, smiling at Sayo and Ieyasu.

"Now that Mr. Yoriichi, Miss Sayo, and Mr. Ieyasu are here as guests, Aria won't be so lonely anymore."

"For the next few days, please take good care of Aria."

Yoriichi's composure had completely changed Kaven's attitude.

There was nothing that couldn't be turned into cooperation.

After all, tormenting outsiders was merely a minor pastime for them. Outsiders flooded into the Imperial Capital every day, there would always be more.

Considering Yoriichi's background, Kaven had already abandoned any plans to act against Sayo and Ieyasu. They could simply find other outsiders later.

"Yeah!"

"Now that Brother Yoriichi, Brother Ieyasu, and Sister Sayo are here to play with me…"

Aria happily took Sayo's hand and smiled.

"I won't be lonely anymore."

"If you want, you can stay at my house as long as you like."

However, Aria herself wasn't entirely happy.

Looking at Sayo's smooth, beautiful hair made her extremely displeased.

But she also understood that Yoriichi came from a prestigious background—he wasn't some disposable outsider who could simply be made to disappear.

At this point, Aria had no choice but to maintain her persona.

To be honest, she already regretted stopping the carriage.

If they had continued searching, they would have found more suitable targets. Now, because of Yoriichi's presence, she and her mother wouldn't be able to act recklessly for several days.

Thinking of this, her smile became slightly unnatural.

Unhappy…?

My older brother was like this too, often smiling despite feeling otherwise.

Yoriichi noticed the subtle change in Aria's expression.

The fleeting stiffness on her face made him thoughtful.

When he was young in the Tsugikuni family, he had often seen his older brother Michikatsu Tsugikuni forced to maintain a cheerful expression while being trained harshly by their father.

Even when unhappy, one still had to smile.

That was exactly what Aria seemed to be doing now.

What puzzled Yoriichi, however, was what had made Aria unhappy in the first place.

If it was because they were visiting, he had clearly sensed her earlier joy. He couldn't understand why her emotions had changed so quickly.

Compared to Aria, her parents showed no emotional fluctuations at all.

...

Afterward, things progressed naturally.

As guests in the Devonshire mansion, they were treated to delicious food, a warm fireplace, and soft beds. Yoriichi, Sayo, and Ieyasu finally had a proper place to rest.

Even Yoriichi, who could remain vigilant anywhere, appreciated the chance for proper rest.

Soon, morning arrived.

After breakfast, Yoriichi brought Sayo and Ieyasu to the spacious courtyard.

The Devonshire estate's garden became the location for their first lesson.

"The main purpose of Breathing Techniques is to enhance bodily functions."

"They allow us to absorb more oxygen in a short time and unleash greater power."

"And Total Concentration: Constant is an advanced state of Breathing Techniques. It allows one to maintain heightened power at all times. Over time, this gradually strengthens the user's physical abilities in every aspect."

"Even while sleeping, Total Concentration: Constant must be maintained."

Yoriichi carefully explained while Sayo and Ieyasu sat attentively on the grass.

Unlike others who needed to learn Breathing Techniques later in life, Yoriichi had been born with extraordinary talent, possessing the Demon Slayer Mark, the Transparent World, and an innate understanding of Breathing Techniques.

After reaching adulthood, he created Sun Breathing based on his abilities.

However, no one had ever successfully mastered Sun Breathing.

No one could withstand the power of the sun.

Thus, Yoriichi had instead taught weakened derivative Breathing Techniques to the Demon Slayer Corps.

Now, he intended to teach Sayo and Ieyasu those same derivative styles.

"Once you fully master Total Concentration: Constant, you meet the minimum requirement to awaken the Demon Slayer Mark."

"Although I don't know the exact conditions, without exception, those who awakened the mark were all swordsmen who mastered Total Concentration: Constant."

"Therefore, I do not recommend that you attempt to reach that level."

Yoriichi spoke with a serious tone.

Sayo and Ieyasu both nodded earnestly.

Neither of them wished to gain greater power at the cost of dying before the age of twenty-five.
