Chapter 1 - Unnamed

Suhana and Pritam:

A Love Written in Time

The year was 2001. It was a time before smartphones and social media, when love letters were written by hand and phone calls were made from crowded STD booths. In a small town filled with narrow lanes and blooming gulmohar trees, lived a girl named Suhana.

Suhana was known for her quiet nature and expressive eyes. She loved reading novels and often spent her afternoons sitting by the window, watching the world go by. Her life was simple, yet full of dreams she never spoke about.

Pritam, on the other hand, had just moved into the neighborhood. He was cheerful, friendly, and had a smile that could light up even the dullest day. He had joined the same college as Suhana, though they had never spoken at first.

Their story began on a rainy July morning.

Suhana was standing under the college corridor, waiting for the rain to stop. She had forgotten her umbrella. Just then, Pritam appeared beside her, holding a black umbrella.

"You can share it… if you don't mind," he said, a little nervously.

Suhana hesitated for a moment but nodded. That short walk under the umbrella became the beginning of something neither of them expected.

Days turned into weeks, and slowly, they began talking more. It started with small conversations about classes and assignments, then grew into sharing favorite songs, dreams, and fears. Pritam loved old Bollywood songs, while Suhana preferred poetry. Yet somehow, they found a rhythm that connected them deeply.

Without realizing it, they became inseparable.

Every evening, they would meet near the old banyan tree outside the college. It became "their place." They would sit there for hours, talking about everything and nothing. Sometimes, silence spoke more than words.

One day, Pritam brought a small notebook.

"What's this?" Suhana asked.

"It's for you," he smiled. "Whenever you feel like saying something but can't… write it here."

Suhana took it, her heart quietly overwhelmed. That notebook soon became their secret world. They wrote letters to each other—sometimes emotional, sometimes playful, sometimes just a single line: "I missed you today."

Months passed, and their bond grew stronger.

But love, as beautiful as it is, often comes with challenges.

Pritam's father got transferred to another city. The news came suddenly, like a storm. Pritam had to leave within a week.

That evening, they sat under the banyan tree, quieter than ever.

"Will you forget me?" Suhana finally asked, her voice trembling.

Pritam looked at her, his eyes filled with sincerity. "Some people aren't meant to be forgotten, Suhana."

Before leaving, he gave her the notebook again. The last page had just one sentence written:

"This is not the end of our story."

Years passed. Life moved on. Suhana completed her studies, but a part of her always remained under that banyan tree.

One winter afternoon, as she walked past the same road, she saw someone standing there.

It was Pritam.

A little older, a little changed—but the same smile.

"I told you," he said softly, "our story isn't over."

Suhana smiled, her eyes glistening with tears of happiness.

And just like that, time paused once again—this time, not to separate them, but to bring them back together forever.
