The Last bench love

The Last Bench Love

Arif was known as the quiet boy of the class. He always sat on the last bench, away from everyone. While others laughed, talked, and enjoyed their school life, Arif preferred reading storybooks and drawing in his notebook. Many students thought he was strange, but he simply liked his own world.

One day, a new girl joined the class. Her name was Maya. She had bright eyes, a confident smile, and a very friendly personality. The teacher asked her to sit wherever she wanted. Surprisingly, she walked straight to the last bench and sat beside Arif.

Arif felt nervous. He had never talked to a girl like her before.

"Hi, I'm Maya," she said with a smile.

Arif hesitated for a moment and replied softly, "I'm Arif."

From that day, everything slowly started to change. Maya was very talkative, while Arif was very quiet. She would ask him questions about studies, drawings, and even his favorite books. At first Arif only gave short answers, but Maya never got bored. She kept trying to make him comfortable.

One day she noticed his drawing notebook.

"Wow! Did you draw these?" she asked with surprise.

Arif nodded shyly.

"These are amazing! Why don't you show these to others?" she asked.

Arif looked down and said, "No one would care."

Maya smiled and said, "I care."

That was the first time Arif felt special.

Days passed and they became good friends. Maya helped Arif become more confident, and Arif helped Maya with mathematics. They started sharing their lunch, talking after school, and sometimes walking home together.

One rainy afternoon, the school ended early. Arif forgot his umbrella. Maya noticed and said, "Come, we can share mine."

They walked together under one umbrella. The rain was falling softly, the road was quiet, and Arif felt his heart beating faster. He wanted to say something but didn't know how.

Finally Maya broke the silence.

"You know, when I first saw you, I thought you were very proud," she laughed.

Arif looked surprised. "Why?"

"Because you never talked to anyone."

Arif smiled slightly and said, "I was just afraid no one would understand me."

Maya replied softly, "I understand you."

That moment felt magical to Arif.

On the last day of the school year, Maya gave Arif a small gift. It was a simple pen.

Arif asked, "Why this?"

Maya said, "So you can write your own story. And maybe… keep me in it."

Arif gathered his courage and said, "You are already the best part of my story."

Maya smiled, but her eyes became a little emotional.

"My father got transferred," she said quietly. "I have to change schools."

Arif felt his world stop for a moment. But Maya added,

"Distance doesn't end real friendship… or maybe something more."

She wrote her number on the first page of his drawing book.

Years later, Arif became a writer. His first novel was dedicated to one person:

"To the girl who sat on the last bench and changed my life."

And yes… they were still talking.

Sometimes, love doesn't start with big moment's
