Dan was restless after some hours of waking up still in the hospital and by how the ward setting is it was a private ward and private wards were expensive to pay for and here he was lying down in one of these wards.
'what would happen next in this phase of my life.... And most of all how do I pay this hospital bills am not working or anything. I even ran away from home with no money, what if he left and he's never coming back to pay the bills. Am cooked, am totally toasted' he thought.
He sat up looking at the time on the wall... "5:28pm I got to get out of here before they come to take the money from me for the bills" he got out of the bed but was shocked to see the door already opening
'no am too late' he thought
Just then Richard face showed up first before his body coming after before closing the door after coming in.
'he came back.... Am I dreaming'
"so I see you are doing well cause 5 days ago you were out cold and now you are out of bed quite great isn't it" Richard said with a smile on his face.
"you came back... why???" Dan asked surprise by the man standing in front of him with a big smile plastered on his face.
"well you were hit by my car... And I saw you in need of help so I did help you" he answered with a simple explanation.
Dan felt like sharing some tears cause he thought he was the only human in his own world but here he was with a man not his relative..... An outsider helping him without a second thought.
"hey don't cry, I don't like people crying at all. Did I do something wrong" Richard asked Dan.
"no you did nothing wrong, it's just..... It's just that you the only person that has been nice to me since the last three years now. So it made me wanna cry"
"OK... So you are cool with me right"
"yeah we are good" Dan said now having a little smile on his face which Richard found amusing "you look cute when you smile so keep on smiling it makes you stunning" Richard complimented Dan only making the young boy a little shy.
"ah before I forget have you eaten something yet" he asked
"nothing.... I mean I haven't eaten anything yet"
"great cause I brought something with me" he raised his hands from his back bringing to view a bag with something inside and with the aroma coming from it Dan knew what it was and he was drooling.
Few minutes later Dan was wolfening down the food given to him
"take it easy little one or you will choke on your food. No one is taking it away from you"
"thank you so much for helping me out" he talked with food in his mouth before going back in eating.
.......
After eating he looked relaxed as he sat down in satisfaction close to Mr Richard on the bed.
"hey there is something I wanted to ask you about but I just needed the right time to ask... The doctor said you had injuries on your head that didn't come from the car incident but from something like a weapon. So what happened" Richard asked in a low tone not to scare the little kid sitting close to him.
"it's a long story and it would take quite some time to say it all" Dan answered sincerely before playing with his hands and facing the other way to hide his darkened face that was filled with disgust, anger, and sadness.
Richard just simply put his left hand on Dan's head roughing his hair before saying "I got time am all ears am quite curious to know why someone like you had that scar on him and why you were running from home"
"OK but don't complain that it was long and boring"
With a smile Richard replied "I wouldn't think of that little one"
"OK.... It started three years ago when my dad died but before that let me tell you about six months earlier before my dad died it was then it all started..."
Six months and three years ago....
"mom, dad I have something to tell you"
"what is it my boy" dad asked looking worried that something bad happened "tell us we are all ears"
Dan doesn't know if he should tell them or keep it to himself after all he couldn't figure it if his parents would be happy or ashamed of him but he chose to tell them anyways.
"I think am gay... I have a crush on a guy at school and now I just feel... I don't know" he paused before going on his knees "am sorry if I have shamed this family but.... It has been killing me from within"
Mom seems to be mad at me but dad had this expression on his face that was void from emotions at first Dan thought he too was mad at him but his dad just got to his feet and huged him and then said.... "I knew so it is nothing"
And that just made little Dan surprised including the rest of his family seems shocked by their father's reply
"what you knew????" Dan asked in surprise
"yeah I did....." he pulled out of the hug looking at his son with a small smile "the day we went to the movies together well I saw you blushing at a boy's comment saying you were cute and I knew so it's OK and am glad you told me" his father said playing with Dan's hair.
With tears in his eyes Dan hugs his father again and thanking him for accepting him but his mom was something else she never accepted him no matter how many times he did something to please her. Then he stopped trying to please her but thy just added up to the furry his mother had for him but he never mind it as long his father loved him the same. Even his father tried to amend things with him and his mom but she never agreed to try to accept him her comments was....
"I can never accept this trash as my son.... This fag can die for all I care" and these words hurt him even more. His siblings treated him like he was an outsider to them but his father never did that only treating him kindly as both his mother and father at the same time which warmed his heart. But the universe had other things up it's sleeves for him.
Three months later his father had fallen ill and when taken to the hospital he was diagnosed with blood cancer and it had eaten him up to some certain extent that it was now 50 _ 50 chances to either make it or die. It pained him cause his joy giver was dieing and there was a higher chance that he may never make it out alive.
But still his father never stopped caring for him like he always had, instead he cared for him even more cause he may live Dan behind.
On the day of his operation to drill out all the blood from his body and put a new one the mechine went malfunctioning and with that his father died it was the most shocking news Dan had ever had in his life. He cried for one week or more than but he never knew cause he was too shakened to even count the days as it flew by, but that was when his life turned upside down from bad to worse cause his mother began her own torment.
After the burial the torture increased..... His mother bring in men home to sleep with him and assault him just for money he was stopped from school, stopped from living the house, stopping from meeting his friends or anyone he knows... He was completely cut out from the world and was dieing from inside. He was a different person from what he normally knew. It went on for the past three years of his life and it only intensified.
But just the day he ran away and was hit by Mr Richard's car he had fought with a man that had paid his money to assault him and treat him like a broken doll. He bit on the man's hand and ran out the room locking the man inside and made his way to the sitting room so he can make his escape but met his mother sitting in the sitting room.
When she saw him she was furious and asked him to go back but he refused and tried to make a run for it but was hit on the head by his mother with a lamp making him fall to the ground crying as she kept on hitting him with the lamp until it completely broke on his body.
With all the strength left he kicked her and made a run for it through the front door trying to run away as far as possible.
Back to the present....
"and that was how I got hit by your car and here I am so that is pretty much everything till this point" Dan said before taking in a small breath to ease himself up a bit.
"it is pretty much the same as the information I was able to gather earlier... So it is true" Richard said going into thoughts
Dan was shocked beyond his point of reasoning he just sat down there starring at Mr Richard.
"you knew and you still asked me" he asked
Richard just nodded his head in agreement "yeah I did cause I sent someone to fine out why a kid your age would be running from home with injuries so severe and even wished to die.... I had to fine out for myself, but don't you worry things are already taken care of"
Dan just adjusted a little bit from Richard before asking "are you taking me back to my mom.... To that house"
"no why would I..... I was only talking of the arrangement we had and the one we would have right now" he said before clapping his hands to signal someone outside.
Just then the door opened and a man in all black suit and glasses walked in. He looked like a agent from one of the movies he had watched with his dad when he was still quite little.
The strange man handed a black file to Mr Richard before taking his leave out the room.
The file was then placed in Dan's front but thru the little guy seems scared so he asked the question that bothered him....
"what is that"
"it is the arrangement that I just talked about earlier" Richard said now looking serious at Dan.
The air around them seems to pause for a moment as if wanting to know too what was inside the black file. The atmosphere becomes tensed with fear and seriousness.
