The corridors of the Iron Estate were quiet, but it was a tense, heavily guarded silence.
Rolf walked beside me. His heavy boots thudded against the marble floors.
He looked completely out of place among the pristine statues and polished brass pillars, but the silver armor plating he wore demanded absolute respect from the passing guards.
"I still do not like this political garbage, Boss," Rolf grunted softly.
"Give me a monster with teeth and claws any day. This invisible war gives me a headache."
"A monster with claws only kills what is in front of it, Rolf," I replied, my baritone voice echoing slightly.
"A man with information can kill an entire kingdom without ever drawing a sword. Anise was right. We have been so focused on leveling up our physical bodies that we completely ignored the shadow war happening on the surface."
We reached the heavy oak doors of the Prime Minister's war room.
