Chapter 2: The System Is Called FGO

"Ding, system installation in progress… data loss detected… repairing data… data repair complete… installing…"

"Ding, system installation complete."

"Ding, scanning host data."

"Scan complete. System functioning normally. Enjoy your experience."

The strange voice—seemingly distant yet echoing right beside his ears—was, to Chizuki, nothing short of heavenly music.

Although he had been a shut-in in his previous life, he was very familiar with all kinds of novels. And the classic trope of "transmigration + system" was one of his favorites. Usually, protagonists like this would go on to dominate everything and live a satisfying, face-slapping life.

"I knew it. How could a transmigrator not have a cheat?"

Chizuki slapped his thigh excitedly—only to wince as pain shot through his injuries.

Ignoring the pain, he was far more concerned about understanding the system. His current situation was extremely dangerous. The Mist ninja supply unit was nearby, and no one knew when they might come around to patrol. Meanwhile, Konoha's frontline forces were far away. With his current injured body, there was no way he could make it back alive.

Summoning the system, Chizuki immediately began to inspect it.

With a thought, a dazzling interface appeared in his mind. Based on his memories from his previous life, he recognized it instantly.

"This… isn't this basically Fate/GO?"

Although there were some differences, the overall structure was quite similar. The screen displayed Chizuki's character model, and below it were five options: Master Data, Owned Noble Phantasms, Servant Data, Quest List, and Summoning System.

The Master Data section, as the name implied, displayed Chizuki's current physical abilities. He quickly checked his stats.

――――――――――

Master Data:

Name: Mitarashi Chizuki

Strength: E-

Endurance: E-

Agility: E

Mana: E-

Luck: C

――――――――――

To be honest, seeing this made Chizuki want to curse.

As a genius of the Ninja Academy, even at five years old, he could already skillfully use the Fire Release: Fireball Jutsu and the Three Basic Techniques. His taijutsu training had not been neglected either. And yet, despite all that, his Strength, Endurance, and Mana were at the lowest rank—E-.

In this world, Mana corresponded to chakra reserves, while Strength and Endurance represented physical power and stamina. The fact that all three were bottom-tier made Chizuki feel utterly cheated.

Since he didn't possess any Noble Phantasms, that section was skipped, moving directly to Owned Noble Phantasms.

Both the Owned Noble Phantasms and Servant Data panels were empty—unsurprising, since he had neither.

Next was the Quest List, which was divided into Main Quests, Side Quests, and Random Quests.

There was currently only one Main Quest: Assist Konoha in defeating the Hidden Mist Village.

Below it was a completion metric—the more enemy Genin, Chūnin, and Jōnin he killed, the higher the completion rate, and the better the rewards. However, all current kill counts were zero.

The Side Quests and Random Quests sections were blank, indicating that they required specific conditions to be triggered.

Finally, the Summoning System.

There was only one summoning pool. Summoning required an item called Magic Crystals, and like in the game, it took three per summon. However, there was no ten-pull option.

The system could summon Servants, their Noble Phantasms, enhancement materials known as Embers, and various Mystic Codes.

Servants were typically powerful figures from history who had died. They were heroic spirits—beings elevated beyond ordinary humans after death. Bound by powerful wishes made during their lifetimes, they formed contracts with the world, becoming Servants who fought alongside their Masters to obtain the Holy Grail.

Servants were categorized by class:

Saber (swordsman), Lancer (spearman), Archer (archer), Rider (mounted), Caster (mage), Assassin, Berserker, and various non-standard classes.

Examples of non-standard classes included:

Avenger—corrupted Heroic Spirits tainted by the Grail;

Ruler—summoned under special Grail War conditions, capable of detecting enemies within a ten-kilometer radius;

and Beast and Monster—typically constructs or familiars summoned by Casters.

Servant Noble Phantasms were essentially their ultimate techniques—their trump cards.

Embers were used to enhance both Masters and Servants.

Mystic Codes were tools used by magi for support. They came in various forms and functions, but broadly fell into two categories: those that assisted the user in combat, and those that activated specific effects upon use.

"Umm… System, what exactly can I do right now? There's basically nothing here…"

After briefly fantasizing about a blissful life with the King of Knights on one arm and Jeanne Alter on the other, Chizuki wiped the drool from his mouth and complained.

Right now, the system only had the Main Quest. While it was technically easy to complete—since, according to history, Konoha would win the Third Shinobi World War—even doing nothing for a few months would likely fulfill it.

But leaving aside the completion rating, Chizuki's current situation was extremely dangerous. He needed some form of self-defense immediately.

"Ding, host has received a Beginner's Gift Pack. Would you like to open it?"

The system's voice remained cold and emotionless, but Chizuki didn't care.

"Open it. Hurry!"

"Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining: Summon Ticket ×1, Ember [Bronze] ×1, Random Servant Catalyst ×1."

"Huh? Even Summon Tickets exist? And a random catalyst too?"

Chizuki clicked his tongue as he examined the tattered black cloth fragment in his hand.

"Better use the ticket first, then use the catalyst to summon a Servant."

Having decided his next step, Chizuki turned his attention to the summoning system.

"Summon."

At his command, the Summon Ticket transformed into a streak of golden light and shot into the summoning pool. Instantly, the pool erupted with brilliant radiance.

Chizuki's heart leapt into his throat as he stared intently at the glowing light.

Finally, as if everything had settled, a simple wooden ring appeared before him.

"…What… is this?"

"Congratulations, host. You have obtained the Mystic Code: Emergency Treatment. This Mystic Code can be used once per day to restore a small amount of injuries and mana."

The system promptly responded to his confusion.

"Wait, isn't this the starting Master skill? And in the game it's an outfit—why is it a ring here?"

Chizuki fiddled with the ring, speechless. From what he remembered, Mystic Codes were equipment cards for Servants—but he had clearly forgotten that Master skills were also a type of Mystic Code.

After casually examining it, he slipped it onto the index finger of his left hand. For a five-year-old's hand, it was a bit too large, but that hardly mattered to him.

Glancing at the injuries still covering his body, Chizuki placed his left hand—wearing the ring—against his chest and silently activated it.

"Emergency Treatment."

The moment he spoke, faint green light began to glow from the ring. The soothing radiance quickly seeped into his body, flowing through him like a gentle current.

It felt like parched land receiving long-awaited spring rain—so comfortable that he couldn't help but let out a soft groan.

Whether it was the Mystic Code's effect or just psychological relief, he now felt as if all his injuries had been completely healed.

"Next… it's time to summon my first Servant."

Chizuki took a deep breath, feeling the renewed strength coursing through his body, and turned his gaze to the black cloth in his right hand.
