Chapter 2 - Escape Begins

"If I stay here… I die again."

Air tore into Kael's lungs.

Sharp.

Burning.

He was alive.

That alone—

Was wrong.

The world didn't stop for him.

Didn't question.

Didn't care.

The platform behind him was already forgotten.

Good.

Kael lowered his head slightly and moved.

Not fast.

Not slow.

Just enough.

Another face in the crowd.

Another shadow.

But something inside him—

Shifted.

A pressure.

Cold.

Unseen.

Danger.

It spread through his body like poison.

Closer.

Watching.

"…You."

Kael's eyes flicked sideways.

A guard.

Staring directly at him.

"…That's impossible."

Kael didn't stop.

But his body—

Prepared.

"YOU—STOP!"

Too late.

Kael ran.

The Chase

The world snapped into motion.

Boots thundered behind him.

"TARGET ALIVE!"

"CAPTURE HIM!"

Kael turned sharply.

Left.

Right.

No hesitation.

No wasted movement.

A strike came—

He ducked.

Barely.

Another blocked him—

He slipped past.

Not clean.

Not perfect.

But enough.

For now.

Intercepted

The path ahead—

Stopped.

Not blocked.

Controlled.

A single figure stood there.

Still.

Silent.

Watching.

The guards behind Kael slowed instantly.

"…Sir Raze."

The name alone—

Changed the air.

Kael's instincts screamed.

Not danger.

Something worse.

Death.

Raze Calder didn't move.

Didn't need to.

His presence alone—

Was enough.

"You shouldn't exist."

His voice was calm.

Flat.

Certain.

Kael tried to step back—

His body… slowed.

Not physically.

Something deeper.

As if his movement—

Had already been decided.

Fate Lock

Raze tilted his head slightly.

"Running won't change the outcome."

Kael's fingers tightened.

His body resisted.

Forced itself forward—

A step.

Heavy.

Slow.

Wrong.

Like moving through something invisible.

Raze watched.

Unimpressed.

Then—

He moved.

Not fast.

Not rushed.

But suddenly—

Closer.

Too close.

Kael felt it.

That gap in strength.

That absolute difference.

No Chance

He couldn't win.

Couldn't fight.

Couldn't escape.

Not like this.

Not here.

Kael's eyes shifted.

Past Raze.

Down.

Darkness.

A broken descent.

Cold air rising.

Wrong.

The Shattered Zone

Even from here—

It felt… unnatural.

The guards hesitated.

"…He's not going to—"

Raze's gaze flicked toward it.

A brief pause.

Then—

He stepped aside.

Just enough.

"…Go."

Silence.

The guards froze.

"Sir…?"

Raze didn't look at them.

"If he enters…"

A pause.

"He dies."

No emotion.

No doubt.

Kael didn't hesitate.

He moved.

Past him.

Into the darkness.

Entering Death

The moment he crossed—

Everything changed.

Sound—

Gone.

Air—

Heavy.

Reality—

Unstable.

Kael slowed.

Not by choice.

By instinct.

Every part of him screamed:

Leave.

But it was too late.

They Were Already There

A shape shifted.

Too fast.

Too wrong.

Kael turned—

Something stood there.

Humanoid.

But broken.

Its body flickered.

Limbs twisted.

Wrong angles.

Its head tilted—

Then—

It vanished.

First Contact

No—

It didn't vanish.

It was already in front of him.

A strike—

Kael reacted—

Too slow.

Pain exploded.

He staggered.

Another appeared.

Then—

More.

Surrounding him.

Fate Distortions

They didn't move normally.

A step—

Became two.

Stillness—

Became presence.

Kael tried to track them—

Failed.

One attacked—

Too early—

He dodged.

Another—

Too late—

It hit.

Blood spilled.

Collapse

Kael dropped.

Breathing broken.

Vision shaking.

Too many.

Too unpredictable.

Too wrong.

Edge of Death

One stepped forward.

Slow.

Certain.

Its arm twisted—

Preparing to strike.

Kael tried to move—

Nothing.

His body failed him.

So this is it…

Again…

A breath.

Faint.

Weak.

Then—

His eyes hardened.

Not fear.

Not regret.

Only defiance.

"If this is fate…"

The creature lunged.

"Then I refuse it."

Clear.

The world—

Sharp.

For the first time—

Kael saw.
