When Timothy York returned to Stillwater that night, it wasn't even nine.
At that moment, Summer Thorne was sitting in the living room, flipping through a book. Hearing the sound, she turned her head, slightly surprised. "Didn't you have a dinner engagement? You're back so early?"
Timothy York walked in from the entrance, his gaze fixed on Summer Thorne the entire time. Only when she was right in front of him did he finally make a sound of acknowledgment, sitting down beside her and loosening his tie.
While loosening his tie, he noticed a new vase on the coffee table, filled with vibrant, dewy red roses.
At the same time, he also saw vases of fresh flowers by the window and next to the TV cabinet.
A slight turn of his head revealed more flowers he'd overlooked, on the bar and the dining table.
Timothy York turned to Summer Thorne. "Did you go to the flower market today?"
"I did," Summer Thorne answered. "I made a special trip."
