"If he's really planning something like that, then you're the only person in the world who can talk him out of it," Silas Dunn said.
After a long moment, Summer Thorne finally nodded and replied softly, "I understand."
On the way back, Summer Thorne did something rare and called Timothy York directly.
Timothy York answered after a few rings, his voice as steady as ever. "What's wrong?"
Summer Thorne sat in the back of the cab, watching the city's nightscape rush by outside the window. A lump formed in her throat for no reason, but she quickly composed herself before speaking. "Are you off work yet?"
"Not yet."
"Then when will you be?" Summer Thorne asked.
"About two more hours." It was obvious her questions were unusual. After answering, Timothy York asked again, "Seriously, what's wrong?"
