Silas Thorne and Joyce Monroe returned to Northgate three days after the holiday. Silas had made a point of looking for Liam Wentworth, but he ran into his older brother first and asked casually,
"Bro, what's been going on with you lately?"
Jonathan Thorne was sipping tea from a thermos, his expression placid. "Nothing. Why do you ask?"
"Liam Wentworth said something was up with you and told me to keep an eye on you."
"The divorce must have addled his brain."
"..."
Even someone as perceptive as Silas Thorne didn't connect the matter to Zoe Monroe. After all, Joyce had just treated Zoe to a celebratory dinner during a break from her piano practice, congratulating her on passing her audition.
They invited a few more people to make it a lively gathering.
Kian Jacobs and Liam Wentworth both came. The only one missing was his own older brother, who claimed he needed to rest and didn't show up, even though it was the weekend and he wasn't busy.
