Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: I'm Not Crazy

Megan Kane hadn't even gotten home yet when she heard crying coming from inside the house.

She was getting extremely annoyed. 'I shouldn't have come back,' she thought.

In the living room, Blair White was slamming the table, backed by a posse of her female relatives.

"I want Megan Kane to come back, kneel, and apologize to me. Otherwise, I'll sue all of you!"

After being so humiliated at the hospital, there was no way she would let it go quietly.

Jason Forrester, however, wasn't home; he had gone out for a meeting.

In his eyes, Blair White and Megan Kane were both Oscar-worthy actresses, and it was impossible to tell who was right or wrong.

Besides, it didn't affect him in the slightest.

Blair White wailed, spouting angry accusations and pointing a finger at everyone in the room.

Meanwhile, Megan Kane cautiously peeked her head in. Once she confirmed Jason Forrester wasn't home…

She strode into the living room like she owned the place.

"Well, well. Both cheeks are red. Did someone slap you?"

"You look so aggrieved, it just breaks my heart. Should I set up a stage for you?"

"I can even get you a megaphone so you can wail to the heavens. How about that?"

Megan Kane then casually grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds from the table and started cracking them.

Mr. and Mrs. Kane sat silently on the sofa.

They had no idea what was going on.

Blair White's crying came to a screeching halt. She whirled around and flipped the coffee table over.

"So Jason Forrester isn't home? Good. I'll deal with you first, you bitch, and vent all my anger!"

With that, Blair White charged, looking absolutely ferocious.

Megan Kane grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds, threw them in her face, and followed up by slapping her hard across both cheeks.

Blair White saw stars and staggered backward. "AH! I'm going to kill you today!"

"I'll be damned if I don't beat you to death!"

Blair White had never been this angry in her entire life.

The onlookers tried to step in and break up the fight but were quickly beaten back by the flurry of kicks and punches, getting soundly thrashed in the process.

In the end, they all let out a collective sigh and watched from a safer distance, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.

Megan Kane's hair was a mess and her image was in tatters, but her movements were sharp and swift.

In her past life, when others at school tried to bully her, she'd ended up turning the tables and dominating them instead.

She, Megan Kane, had always relied on these fierce, lightning-fast hands of hers.

"You think you can beat me with those half-assed moves?"

"My advice? Go back to your mother's womb and practice some more. Don't come out here and embarrass yourself."

Megan Kane grabbed Blair White by the hair and slammed her hard onto the sofa.

Just as she was about to pounce again, she caught sight of a man with a grim face standing in the doorway.

Megan Kane's expression changed in an instant. She crumpled to the ground with a look of pure agony. "Help, I'm being bullied! She charged into my home to beat me up! This is lawless!"

"Is there any justice in this world? Are you all just going to stand there and watch the show? Don't you know how to take out your phones and call the authorities? Is it funny watching me get beaten up?"

"Mom, Dad, I'm your own daughter! I can understand if others don't call, but why aren't you calling either?"

Megan Kane said pitifully, wiping away a few tears she had managed to squeeze out.

Blair White didn't move. She lay on the sofa with her eyes closed, pretending to have fainted.

She had sensed something was wrong the moment she saw Megan Kane's expression change.

Rowan Monroe watched, dumbfounded. These two were truly Oscar-level actresses.

They could cry on cue and faint on command.

Both of them had chosen the wrong path in life. If they were in the film industry, they would definitely be huge stars.

Mr. and Mrs. Kane opened their mouths, then closed them again.

They felt there was no need to call, having seen no sign that Megan Kane was losing the fight.

Megan Kane had been doing all the kicking and punching the entire time. A moment ago, she'd looked absolutely dominant.

"Megan Kane. Get up. Now."

Jason Forrester's face was furious. He had just walked in the door to this chaotic scene.

If he hadn't stopped in his tracks fast enough, a throw pillow would have hit him in the head.

Megan Kane stood up tremblingly, her head lowered and her hands wrung nervously in front of her, looking just like a child who had done something wrong.

She perfectly played the part of a pitiful child terrified of being caught and scolded by her parents.

"I was gone for three hours, and you've really outdone yourself. Were you planning to tear the roof off the house?"

"I think the rumors about me are wrong. I'm not even half as crazy as you are."

"And you on the sofa, get the hell up!"

"I'd like to see what kind of show you two want to put on for me today. Go on, keep acting."

"Are you two putting on a double act? Or are you playing good cop, bad cop?"

"Don't just stay silent, that's no fun. How about I join your little play?"

Jason Forrester was already in a foul mood, and the light drizzle outside did nothing to cool his searing irritation.

When he'd entered the house just now, he even suspected he'd gone to the wrong place, looking back and forth several times before he was certain.

"She's the one who started it. Don't you just stand there and start yelling at me."

"I did nothing wrong in this whole affair. I'm the victim here, and she has to compensate me for my medical bills."

Megan Kane lifted her head and spoke with such self-righteousness that everyone present was stunned into silence.

But no one dared to say a word.

Blair White was so angry she pointed a trembling finger, almost fainting from rage.

"Have you no shame? What do you mean, *I* started it?"

"Why are you all just standing there like idiots? Say something fair! Are you all blind?"

Blair White felt that all the composure she had cultivated her entire life was going down the drain.

She didn't care about her ladylike image anymore. She just wanted justice.

"Jason Forrester, you be the judge. If you're my man, you'll stand with me. Otherwise, we're breaking up."

Megan Kane crossed her arms, her words leaving no room for negotiation.

A bitter laugh escaped Jason Forrester's lips. "Heh. So I'm the one who spoiled you, and now you're taking that rotten temper out on me, is that it?"

Megan Kane ignored him and stomped heavily up the stairs.

She was desperately trying to suppress a smile. She had won the fight, after all. Nothing else mattered; it was all just passing clouds.

As for her image, she, Megan Kane, had never cared about it.

Blair White's face was ashen with rage. She stumbled over to Jason Forrester's side and began to cry a stream of delicate tears.

Her voice was thick with sobs. "Forrester, I'm fine. It's all my fault. Please don't hold it against her."

"Miss Kane is your fiancée, after all. Please don't fight so bitterly because of me. It's all my fault. I'll buy a gift and apologize to Miss Kane tomorrow."

The more Blair White spoke, the more heartbroken she sounded, her whole body trembling as she sobbed.

Jason Forrester's brows remained tightly furrowed. He simply responded in a low voice.

"Fine. Just make sure you apologize to her tomorrow."

Jason Forrester, feeling an immense headache coming on, rubbed his temples and headed for the wine cellar in the basement.

Blair White froze on the spot, utterly dumbfounded.
