In the morning, the people in the camp split into three groups.
Justin Nash stayed behind to prepare the ingredients for lunch. One group went up the mountain to gather firewood, while another followed Sophie into the woods to forage for medicinal herbs. Since their medical supplies were running low, the group managed to find some herbs with hemostatic and anti-inflammatory properties. Mashing them into a poultice and applying it to the injuries would prove quite effective.
Iris Dalton and the other two girls carried small baskets, trekking through the woods and across the hills to search for herbs, digging up fresh, tender wild vegetables along the way.
"I'm so pathetic," Iris Thorne lamented as she dug up a wild vegetable. "Reduced to digging for wild vegetables. Back in the day, Brenda King dug for wild vegetables all for the sake of one man. I'm doing it for two! I'm even more tragic than Brenda King!
