By the time they finished breakfast, it was already past ten o'clock.
Just as Stella Sterling and Roman Rhodes were sharing a sweet, loving look, her phone rang unexpectedly.
Stella was slightly taken aback by the name on the caller ID.
The next second, her sister's words rang in her mind: 'I'm sure of it. Phoebe Pierce will come looking for you.'
Indeed, the call was from Phoebe Pierce.
Phoebe's voice sounded a little awkward on the other end. "Did you finish up the paperwork for your resignation?"
Stella instinctively glanced at Roman.
'I wonder if he heard.'
'After all, she hadn't told him about quitting her job yet.'
Stella composed herself and replied calmly, "Yes, on Friday."
Phoebe paused for a moment. "I spoke with your sister a couple of days ago. Are you free? Let's get together and chat."
Stella glanced at the man beside her. Instead of agreeing right away, she said, "Ms. Pierce, let me check my schedule. I'll call you back in a little while."
"Alright."
