But unlike the Insect Race's previous all-consuming invasion, these insects had a very clear objective: they only headed deep underground.
The Void Nest had created a vast number of Crystal Core Insects to madly devour and convert the Esok World's Origin at Energy Nodes across the globe.
Although the Void Empress ultimately issued a self-destruct command, killing all the insects not under Kerrigan's control,
the World Origin that had already been converted and stored by the Crystal Core Insects remained scattered among the various underground Energy Nodes; it had not disappeared.
They still lay quietly buried deep in the earth's crust, like unguarded treasure troves.
What Ian had to do now was empty these troves.
