"Miss Quinn?" Audrey Winslow's surprised and shocked voice came from the other end of the line. "Are… are you okay?"
Audrey Winslow's voice made Seraphina Quinn think for a moment that it would be better to just die.
All her cries for help caught in her throat, and she couldn't get a single word out.
When Audrey didn't get a response, she grew anxious and scared. "Miss Quinn, are… are you still there? What happened…?"
Before Audrey could finish, a man's sardonic baritone voice came through the receiver:
"Miss Winslow, how have you been lately? Have you been having any nightmares?"
The man's words made Audrey's heart leap into her throat.
Her breath caught, and her whole body tensed with anger.
Her fingers tightened around her phone again and again before she could suppress the roiling anger in her chest and speak as calmly as possible:
"Charles Winslow, what did you do to Miss Quinn?"
