As the second-largest land mammal after the elephant, the hippopotamus weighs an average of one ton. With their foul and irritable tempers, they are responsible for killing a staggering five hundred people every year. Even crocodiles give herds of hippos a wide berth, and there are many documented cases of crocodiles being bitten to death by them.
You could say they were one of the most terrifying large animals in Colombia.
Martin Benitez was well aware of how terrifying these hippos were. One method of punishment he'd inherited from Pablo was to throw a man into a herd of hippos to be eaten.
Their terrifying bite force could tear a man's body into several pieces.
Feeling the other man's movements now, he couldn't help but tremble all over.
If the man had just killed him outright or tortured him in some other way, that would be one thing. But being fed to hippos... Just thinking about it made his whole body ache, as if he were already being torn apart.
