In the end, Lin Yu failed to take first place, though that was partly because he hadn't gone all out.
Ultimately, Lin Yu received four opportunities to upgrade the rank of a designated unit type (up to Legendary). (For comparison, the first-place winner, Yun Qihao, received five.)
Lin Yu only used one to upgrade the Corruption Spreaders to the Legendary rank. As for the Champion Gladiators, their abilities were geared more toward one-on-one duels and weren't very useful in large-scale battles. And when it came to duels on Lin Yu's territory, his heroes were a better fit anyway.
Lin Yu saved the remaining three opportunities, planning to use them later on more suitable units.
Upon reaching the Legendary rank, the Corruption Spreader gained a new skill: Aberration.
