"Whatever. I'm about to be jobless, so what's the point of being picky?"
Her gloomy expression only amused Yang Hui. While waiting at a red light, he reached out and tilted her chin up. Xia Jie stared at him, her wide, innocent eyes filled with confusion.
"Come on, give your lord a smile."
Xia Jie let out a forced "hehe," a smile that was all teeth and no joy. Yang Hui, on the other hand, burst into a hearty, carefree laugh.
"I'm this miserable and you're still laughing," Xia Jie said, a little peeved, turning to look out the window. "Starting tomorrow, I'm officially a jobless bum."
Yang Hui took her to Xinyue Square. He was originally supposed to meet Huang Lingyu there at 4 PM, but he'd come early because of Xia Jie's situation. He parked in the underground garage, took the elevator straight to the third floor, and led her to the Wang Pin Steakhouse—the same one where he'd first eaten with Liu Shasha.
