Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A Suggestive Application of Medicine

Amelia Lockhart went out, then came back in. After returning, she suddenly lifted the huge double bed with ease, tilting it on its side and shoving it into the corner of the room.

Then, she swept the cleared area clean, went out again, and returned with a clean sleeping pad and a blanket. She took a pillow from the bed and placed it on the makeshift bed.

Just as Amelia Lockhart finished setting everything up and straightened up in satisfaction, she realized Ethan Quinn had appeared behind her at some point.

His black hair dripped with water, and crystalline droplets clung to his long, lush eyelashes. His dark eyes were as indifferent and silent as a whirlpool.

His bathrobe was slightly ajar, revealing a faint mist of steam rising from his skin.

A post-shower flush warmed his cheeks, softening the aloofness he wore during the day.

What a stunning sight—a handsome man fresh from his bath!

With some of his coldness gone, Ethan Quinn looked more youthful and spirited.

The combination of his boyish charm and his innate, Immortal aura made Amelia Lockhart feel as if she could see the young Ethan Quinn from ages past—the one who, at a mere thirty thousand years old, had single-handedly slain The Demon Lord.

Full of youthful vigor, he achieved godhood in that single battle, his name echoing throughout The Three Realms.

Meanwhile, the live comments had already erupted into a cacophony of digital screams. The sheer volume of messages formed a dense, impenetrable wall across the screen as fans grew so excited they were on the verge of fainting.

[This shot of him fresh out of the shower is hitting me right in the feels!]

[I'm torn between wanting to see his physique and wanting him to cover up! He's facing Amelia Lockhart, who's like a wolf on the prowl on Weibo! ARGH!]

Seeing her staring at him blankly, Ethan Quinn simply lowered his gaze to the simple pallet on the floor. His clear, pleasant voice flowed out. "What's this?"

Amelia Lockhart quickly shook her head, scrambling for a plausible excuse. "I like sleeping on the floor."

The hand Ethan Quinn was using to dry his hair paused. A subtle darkness flickered in his eyes. He glanced at her before speaking slowly, "So, you like sleeping on the floor. And here I thought you just didn't want to sleep with me."

Amelia Lockhart: ...

The live comments also went strangely silent for a few seconds before being flooded with a new wave of messages bashing Amelia Lockhart.

[Amelia Lockhart is the worst! She's definitely sleeping on the floor on purpose so the headlines tomorrow will be about how much Ethan despises her! Such a green tea!]

[It is weird, now that you mention it. She's always trying to get his attention on Weibo, so why is she acting all prim and proper now?]

[Despise him? Does she even have the right?]

Amelia Lockhart swallowed her sharp retort. 'If I really shared the bed with him, could a germaphobe like Ethan Quinn even get any sleep?'

Amelia Lockhart's lip twitched as she lied through her teeth. "That's right. I just like sleeping on the floor. I can't fall asleep otherwise." With that, she grabbed her toiletries and headed into the bathroom.

When she came out of the bathroom, Ethan Quinn had already dried his hair and was sitting on the sofa, looking through some documents.

Amelia Lockhart yawned. She was getting sleepy. After quickly drying her hair, she prepared for bed. She hadn't slept well the previous night, her mind preoccupied, and after running around all day, she was truly exhausted.

Just as she was pulling the thin blanket over herself, ready to sleep, she heard Ethan Quinn stand up.

Amelia Lockhart didn't think much of it at first, but his footsteps stopped right beside her.

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

Time passed in silence.

Amelia Lockhart couldn't resist any longer and opened her eyes. Sure enough, Ethan Quinn was standing before her simple pallet, looking down at her.

"Is... something wrong?" Amelia Lockhart asked, uncertain.

'Does he want to sleep on the floor, too?'

Ethan Quinn's gaze darkened slightly, a hint of displeasure in his eyes. His thin lips parted. "Take off your shirt."

Amelia Lockhart's pupils dilated instantly. She shot up, all sleepiness gone. She stared at him in utter astonishment for a long moment before glancing over at the camera, which was still live.

'We're on a livestream! How can he say that?'

After another moment of stunned silence, the live comments exploded once more, a thick wall of text scrolling across the screen from right to left.

[I must be hearing things. Somebody, please slap me awake!]

[SOB! Ethan, no! How can you be so forward!]

"Need my help?" Ethan Quinn asked again, raising an eyebrow slightly. He seemed completely oblivious to the frantic message in her eyes.

'Has Ethan Quinn gone insane, or am I dreaming? This is a livestream!'

'I can already picture the anti-fans going wild! I've already attracted so much hate just by trying to get close to Ethan Quinn to repay my debt to him!'

Apparently dissatisfied with her reaction, Ethan Quinn bent down, his hand reaching for her.

'Help me!'

Amelia Lockhart instantly clutched her collar and shrank back, her terrified expression pleading with him to be rational.

'Has the High God lost his mind? Does he really want to perform an R-rated scene in front of thousands of fans?'

Her terrified expression seemed to amuse him. Ethan Quinn paused his "sinful" advance, his clear, deep black eyes locking onto hers. "Let me see your injury."

Amelia Lockhart almost choked.

Ethan Quinn patiently repeated, "The wound on your shoulder."

Amelia Lockhart stared at him blankly for a long moment. "How did you know? It's just a small wound, it's nothing. I'm tough as nails..."

Ethan Quinn's dark eyes deepened once more. He reached out again, and with a flick of his finger, the fabric slid down, exposing her slender right shoulder.

There, on her fair skin, was a shocking red mark the width of a carrying pole.

It was visible for only an instant. A moment later, a piece of cloth was draped over the camera, blocking the view for the thousands of fans watching the livestream.

As the cloth fell over the lens, Ethan Quinn's voice could be heard. "Ms. Lockhart is a female celebrity. We won't be broadcasting her getting her wound treated."

[I've been watching this whole time! I didn't even notice Amelia Lockhart was hurt! He's so observant!]

[And he went to all that trouble just to make sure we saw the wound clearly!]

Embarrassed, Amelia Lockhart tried to pull her shirt back up over her shoulder, but for the first time, she felt utterly powerless. She couldn't budge his hand in the slightest.

"I can do it myself..."

Ethan Quinn gave her a flat look, and Amelia Lockhart fell silent. She even obediently helped hold her collar open. It was just her shoulder, so Amelia Lockhart didn't find it particularly awkward.

'But why would Ethan Quinn stoop to treat my wound for me?'

The moment the cool medicine on the cotton swab touched her wound, Amelia Lockhart let out a sharp hiss. This, of course, sent the live comments, which couldn't see what was happening, into another frenzy.

"HISS!"

"Ow! Be gentle!"

[My mind is already writing an entire fanfic about this. I'm so guilty!]

[I'm getting so antsy not being able to see! Please don't let him be fooled by Amelia Lockhart's act!]

Ethan Quinn applied the medicine in silence, so Amelia Lockhart grasped for something to say to break the awkward tension. "How did you notice?"

Ethan Quinn ignored her.

"I could have treated it myself, you know."

Ethan Quinn pressed the cotton swab down firmly.

Amelia Lockhart's face contorted in pain, and she wisely shut her mouth.

"I don't like being indebted to people." Finally, after he had finished applying the medicine and bandaging her wound, Ethan Quinn spoke.

When the camera's view was finally restored, the viewers in the live comments had a sudden realization.

[Oh, so he was just treating her wound to repay her for the toothbrush!]

[He's so thoughtful! I'll always trust him!]
