Amelia Finch finally made it back to Mount Cinderwood before dawn.
Her mind was buzzing, filled with her conversation with Ethan Quinn.
"But I'm afraid I won't be able to serve you well. The Divine Lord is such a distinguished person... I think it's best if we just forget it."
"Haven't you always yearned for me, wishing you could be by my side every day? So all the things Amelia said were lies?"
If she could turn back time, she would never have said that.
Amelia Finch returned to her room in a daze. But just as she stepped inside, she saw Willow Finch propping up her head, half-reclining on a nearby soft chair.
Amelia froze. She watched as Willow slowly opened her eyes. Her posture hadn't changed, but there wasn't a trace of sleepiness in her gaze.
"Where did you go so late, Amelia? Your sister wanted to talk to you tonight, but you were nowhere to be found."
Amelia went completely stiff. Under Willow's stare, it felt as if her recent actions had nowhere to hide.
