Willow Finch was stunned. She looked down at Ross, who was affectionately leaning against her feet.
Ross licked his paws, his clear eyes also staring straight at her.
"You can talk?"
Ross tilted his head. His mouth didn't move, but his childish voice echoed in the room again. "My mother says this is called Mind Transfer. Besides, you wouldn't understand the language of us Thunder Beasts anyway."
Willow Finch mostly understood. This was probably a unique method of communication for the Beast of Thunder.
Silas Linden finally found his voice, which he had lost to shock. "Amelia's pregnant?"
"You didn't know?" Seeing that his shocked expression wasn't faked, Willow Finch found it even stranger.
Ross's voice drifted through the room again. "My mother told me to take good care of her and her baby. That's why I didn't tell him—because he doesn't carry her scent, but you do."
Willow Finch then understood why Ross had come close to sniff her—he was trying to confirm her identity.
