Amelia was stunned.
She raised a hand and felt her own heart.
Her heart was pounding in her chest. To think that this vibrant, powerful heart had once been pierced by the claws of a Vicious Beast.
'No wonder my sister tied her life to mine…'
'So I was already supposed to be dead.'
Amelia could feel Willow's turmoil. As she sat on the stone bench, her entire body was trembling uncontrollably.
Amelia stood up, went to her sister's side, and knelt. She wrapped her arms around Willow's waist and rested her head on her lap.
Outside the stone cave was the mist-shrouded Abyssal Maw.
The cave was empty, but she had a sister who was devoted only to her.
Willow's trembling finally subsided. She reached out and stroked Amelia's head. "It's been many years, but I'm still haunted by that scene. When our parents passed, they entrusted you to my care. It's my fault. I thought it was enough to just keep you under my wing."
