When Nancy Hughes got up, Georgia Thorne had already made breakfast. "How did you let Blue get so fat?"
Nancy Hughes sat down and took a sip of congee. "After I feed her a meal, she runs next door for another one. How could she not be fat? Look at her little belly, it's sticking right out!"
Georgia Thorne squatted down and felt Blue's belly. Sure enough, it was just a ball of fat.
"Alright, stop meowing. I'll get you some food in a bit." Georgia Thorne petted its head, but Blue only meowed more insistently.
In the afternoon, Nancy Hughes gave Zoey Zane a call. She was relieved to hear that Zoey was feeling alright.
"By the way, are you still planning to work at that company? Don't you want to study design?"
Nancy Hughes felt like she had jinxed it. She had just asked Georgia Thorne about her job, and then Georgia got fired.
