Annelise Valentine leaned against the railing, her eyes lowered to the sea of lights below. Skyscrapers stood like a dense forest, traffic flowed in woven streams, and neon lights fractured the entire city into countless shimmering pieces.
The hand holding her cigarette rested on the railing. The smoke was snatched away by the wind, not a single wisp lingering.
