Annelise Valentine looked at Mr. Quinn. "Mr. Quinn, you're my elder, and I respect you. But you owe me an explanation for what happened to the Patterson Family."
Mr. Quinn sighed, a sound laden with an unreadable mix of emotions. It was as if he were frustrated, yet also regretful. His expression was a complicated mask.
"Miss Valentine," he began, his voice much softer now, devoid of the authority it held when he first walked in,
"The Quinn Family just wants to establish a foothold in Veridia and do business honestly. I'm getting old. I'm begging you, please don't drag my family into this mess any further."
"What do you mean by that?"
