Liam Lanier's words had little effect. In the end, William Wynne still went with Olivia Wynne to the private room next door.
At the door to the private room next door, Olivia Wynne stood behind Liam Lanier. After he opened the door, she casually glanced inside.
There were both men and women in the private room. Every one of the men was dressed in a suit and tie, looking quite respectable on the surface. But when her eyes landed on the women beside them, Olivia Wynne scoffed inwardly.
Some of the women had their blouses unbuttoned, others had swollen red lips, and some even wore amorous expressions.
'She had no idea how the men in the room managed to change their expressions so quickly. The moment the door opened, they were all sitting bolt upright, their faces composed.'
Liam Lanier stood at the entrance to the room, his gaze fixed solely on Zachary Fairchild, ignoring everyone else.
"Sir, I happened to run into Miss Wynne when I stepped out just now. She said she wanted to come and thank you."
Zachary Fairchild was sitting on a sofa by himself, leaning back lazily with his legs spread apart. After hearing Liam Lanier's words, he raised his head slightly to look at Olivia Wynne.
His deep, dark eyes showed no change as he simply said, "Not necessary."
Zachary Fairchild's reply suited Olivia Wynne just fine, but since she was already here, it wouldn't be right not to say a word of thanks. Olivia didn't want to give anyone reason for gossip, so she stood by the door and said coolly, "A proper thank you is still in order. Sir, thank you for your help the other day."
"It looks like you're busy, so I won't disturb you any further. If there's an opportunity in the future, I'll treat you to a meal to express my gratitude."
'The people in this room were clearly not to be trifled with. Her own footing was still unsteady, so it was best to stay as far away from them as possible.'
Upon hearing Olivia Wynne's words, Zachary Fairchild's impassive eyes swept over her. He then said coolly to Liam Lanier, who stood to the side, "You heard Miss Wynne. Am I free tomorrow?"
At these words, Liam Lanier immediately pulled out his phone and started to check his schedule.
After a quick glance at Zachary Fairchild's schedule, Liam Lanier replied efficiently, "Sir, you have an important meeting tomorrow morning and will be receiving foreign guests in the afternoon, but your evening is free after work."
Zachary Fairchild leaned forward, sitting up straight to face Olivia Wynne. "Seven o'clock tomorrow evening, then. Are you free, Miss Wynne?"
Olivia Wynne: ...
The corner of her mouth twitched. Olivia Wynne glanced at Zachary Fairchild and said softly, "Sorry, I have plans tomorrow. I'm not free."
Zachary Fairchild's expression was unchanged, his jet-black eyes still fixed on Olivia Wynne. His deep voice was almost bewitching.
"Oh? So it seems Miss Wynne's offer was merely a polite gesture?"
Olivia Wynne cursed silently, but her expression remained placid as she faced Zachary Fairchild.
"You're reading too much into it. I can certainly afford to buy you a meal. I'm just genuinely busy tomorrow."
The corner of Zachary Fairchild's mouth quirked into a smirk, but it was gone in an instant, his expression returning to normal.
"If that's the case, when are you free, Miss Wynne?"
The man deliberately slowed his voice, drawing out the last few words. It was a perfectly ordinary sentence, but hearing it made one's skin crawl.
Olivia Wynne, for her part, looked at Zachary Fairchild with a calm expression, but some of the other women in the private room had beads of sweat forming on their foreheads.
Sitting in the private room, they felt the oppressive atmosphere and wanted to leave.
Olivia Wynne looked at Zachary Fairchild's nonchalant expression and listened to his question, feeling extremely annoyed. She desperately wanted to shatter the calm look on his face, but circumstances were beyond her control. She still had to build her career in Didu, and these were not people she could afford to offend.
Taking a deep breath to suppress her annoyance, Olivia Wynne said coolly, "Noon, the day after tomorrow."
