Olivia Wynne overheard the young couple beside her but paid them little mind as she continued on her way home.
'In this day and age, there's plenty to eat and drink. It's great to be alive. Only someone who can't see a way out would even think of jumping off a building.'
Olivia Wynne thought to herself as she quickened her pace.
But she had barely taken two steps when she heard the same couple speak again. "Am I seeing things? There's a woman and a child up there, and the child seems to be struggling... What is that woman doing? Why is she holding the child and looking down... She threw the child down."
The boy, his voice cracking with puberty, shrieked the last few words in terror, his tone sharp and piercing.
Hearing this, Olivia immediately looked up at the roof. In the next second, her body moved faster than her mind, instantly darting backward and to the left.
