Evelyn Grant was a bit intimidated by him.
She bit her lower lip but met his gaze, her eyes limpid and clear. Her soft voice was exceptionally earnest.
"I'm trying to placate you. I was afraid you'd be angry."
Evelyn Grant said softly, "But I also genuinely hope you like it."
She nestled in his arms, tilting her face up. "You brought me to Zermian to see the snow, which made me very happy, so I want you to be happy too."
Her every word, though soft, carried a quiet sincerity that made his heart stir. Preston Keaton gazed down at her for a long moment before a gentle smile slowly spread across his lips.
'He knew she was just coaxing him, but he was perfectly happy to let her.'
'Pretending to be oblivious once in a while wasn't such a bad thing.'
He pulled her into his arms, clutching the gift in his other hand. "Do you know how to tie a tie?"
Evelyn Grant shook her head.
"Then go learn. Once you do, you can tie it for me."
His tone was completely overbearing.
