Chapter 1 - ch:1 THE GIRL NOBODY WANTED

The night she was born, the sky was unusually quiet. No thunder, no rain—just a stillness that felt heavy, like the world itself was holding its breath.

Inside a small, dimly lit house, a baby cried for the first time.

"It's a girl," the nurse said softly.

Silence followed.

Her mother turned her face away. Her father didn't step closer. No smiles, no celebrations—only a quiet disappointment that filled the room like cold air.

They named her Amina, but no one ever called her that with love.

From the very beginning, Amina felt different—even before she could understand why. As she grew older, she noticed the way her parents' faces lit up for others but remained dull around her. She noticed how her cousins were hugged tightly, while she stood at the side, unnoticed.

"Don't make noise," her mother would say.

"Stay out of the way," her father added

So she did.

Amina learned to be quiet. She learned to shrink herself into corners, to sit without asking questions, to watch life happen instead of being part of it.

Her room was small, with cracked walls and a single window that barely opened. But that window became her world. Every evening, she would sit there, looking at the sky, wondering what it felt like to be wanted.

Sometimes, she imagined a different life.

In that life, her mother would brush her hair gently. Her father would smile when she walked into the room. Someone would say, "We're glad you're here."

But reality was different.

One day, when Amina was about eight, she accidentally broke a glass while helping in the kitchen. It slipped from her tiny hands and shattered on the floor.

The sound echoed loudly.

Her mother turned sharply. "Why are you always causing trouble?"

"I—I didn't mean to…" Amina whispered, her voice trembling.

But no one listened.

That night, she sat by her window again, hugging her knees. The stars were faint, barely visible, but she stared at them anyway.

"Maybe," she murmured to herself, "there's a place where I belong."

For the first time, a thought crossed her mind—a quiet, fragile thought.

What if she didn't need anyone to want her?

She didn't know it yet, but that small thought would one day change everything.

And far beyond that quiet house, something had already begun to shift… as if the world had heard her silent wish.
