Chapter 69 - Chapter 69

By the time Luo He and Jin Mulan returned from their room, the sky had already darkened into deep blue, the last traces of sunlight fading behind the distant roofs. Lanterns were being lit across the estate, their warm glow spreading through the courtyards and corridors.

The household had quieted but not settled. There was tension in the air.

Expectation. Luo He didn't waste time.

"Gather everyone, I am having a family meeting." Luo He ordered calmly.

Servants moved immediately. Word spread fast.

Within minutes, the main hall was filled the Jin Quan, Jin Su, Jin Yang and guards standing along the edges even members of the Xu family who had been allowed to remain under watch. Jin Mulan stood beside him. Su Kim remained slightly behind, silent as ever.

Xu Mun stood off to the side, observing.

The room fell quiet as Luo He stepped forward. He didn't sit. Didn't take the position of young master but family elder. He stood at the center. As if the space already belonged to him.

"I'll speak once," he said. His voice wasn't loud. But it carried. Effortlessly.

"No interruptions." No one argued.

Not this time. He began simply.

"Everything you think you know about me," a slight pause, " is incomplete."

A few glances were exchanged. Confusion. Curiosity. Then "I am not from the Yu Kingdom," he continued. A ripple moved through the hall. Jin Quan's brows tightened. "I am the Crowned Prince of the Flame Kingdom." Silence.

Not disbelief at first but emptiness.

As if the room itself needed time to process what had just been said. Then it hit. Shock spread instantly. Murmurs broke out. "That's impossible." "The Flame Kingdom?" "The crowned prince?"

Jin Quan stepped forward slightly. "This is not something to joke about." Luo He didn't even look at him. Instead his gaze shifted to Jin Mulan. "Confirm it." All eyes turned. Jin Mulan didn't hesitate.

She nodded. Once. That was enough.

The reaction was immediate. Chairs scraped. Cloth shifted. Armor clinked.

One by one they dropped. Knees hitting the ground. Heads lowering. "My Prince!"

"We have offended you!" "Forgive us for our ignorance!" The hall that once held equal voices now held submission.

Complete. Jin Quan lowered himself as well, though slower than the others.

Only Jin Su hesitated for a brief moment.

Her grip tightened slightly at her side.

Memories flashing every argument.

Every clash. Every time she had stood against him.

Then she knelt too. Not out of fear.

But understanding. Xu Mun watched quietly. Not surprised. He had already known the weight of the man standing before them. Jin Mulan didn't move.

Su Kim didn't either. Neither did Xu Mun.

They had already accepted it long ago.

The hall slowly fell silent again. Luo He let it sit. Then "Stand," he said. No one dared remain kneeling. They rose immediately. Still tense. Still careful.

Still… shaken. Luo He continued as if nothing had happened.

"I didn't reveal this earlier," he said, "because it wasn't necessary." A pause.

"Now it is." He began walking slowly as he spoke. Not pacing. Not restless. Controlled.

Luo He simply began. "I'll start from the beginning," he said calmly, his voice steady enough to silence even the faint whispers lingering in the corners.

His gaze swept across the room once measured, controlled before continuing.

"I'll start from the beginning," Luo He said. The hall quieted instantly.

"We first went to the Flame Kingdom," he continued, his tone calm, almost casual despite the weight of what he was revealing. "My home." A few in the room shifted again at that reminder. "We stayed there for a few days. During that time, I brought Jin Mulan to meet my master."

He paused briefly. "I the basics of the sword from him. My foundation my discipline my control. He is one of the finest there is for that." A faint glance moved toward Jin Mulan.

"As for her." A small, almost teasing curve touched his lips. "She was terrible." A ripple moved through the room some startled, some unsure whether to react. Jin Mulan's eyes narrowed instantly.

"You really have no filter, do you?" she muttered under her breath. Luo He ignored her. "If I say it directly," he continued, "she lacked control, lacked instinct and lacked patience." He turned slightly toward her. "So she had a lot to learn."

Jin Mulan crossed her arms, her expression tightening but she didn't interrupt. Because she knew it wasn't entirely wrong. "After a few days," Luo He went on, "I received word that my sister had entered the Chu Kingdom."

That caught attention. "To visit the eldest prince of Chu. A friend of hers." A few brows raised. There was more to that but Luo He didn't elaborate. "So I left," he said simply. "After introducing my wife and daughter to my parents, I went to see her."

His tone softened slightly. "She was doing well." A brief pause. "And very curious." A faint smirk returned.

"She wanted to see whether Jin Mulan had gone insane yet after staying with me for nearly a year." That earned a few quiet, awkward chuckles.

Jin Mulan shot him a look. "Should I start talking too?" she warned quietly. Luo He didn't even glance at her this time. Then he continued. "After that, we returned."

His tone shifted back to neutral.

"On the way, we encountered a man in distress. A blacksmith named Fei." He gestured lightly toward the side. "You've already seen him." A few nodded.

"We helped him," Luo He said. "And in return, I gained something of value."

A slight pause. "A new disciple." The word carried weight. "Then," he added, his eyes moving once more to Jin Mulan, "something finally happened."

The room stilled. "She awakened her element." Now all attention turned fully toward her. Jin Su leaned forward slightly. Jin Quan held their breath. Even Xu Mun watched closely. Luo He tilted his head just slightly. "Show them."

Jin Mulan didn't move immediately. For a brief moment she hesitated. Not out of fear. But awareness. This changes everything then she stepped forward.

One step into the center of the hall.

Her breathing slowed. Her focus sharpened and she remembered, His voice. Don't resist it. Let it move through you.

A faint heat sparked in her palm. At first unstable. Flickering. Then it caught. A small flame ignited. Bright. Alive. Gasps broke through the hall. The fire grew not wildly, not uncontrollably but with a steady, rising presence. It coiled lightly around her hand, responding to her will. Not perfectly. But undeniably. Real.

Jin Su's eyes widened. "Fire" The elders stared. Some in awe. Some in disbelief.

Jin Quan didn't speak. But his gaze had changed completely. Jin Mulan lifted her hand slightly. The flame followed. Moved.

Obeyed. For the first time she wasn't chasing it. She was holding it.

Then she closed her fingers. And the fire vanished. Silence filled the hall. Heavy.

Awed. Jin Mulan exhaled slowly.

Her heart still beating faster than she showed. But her face calm and controlled. She turned slightly toward Luo He.

"Good enough?" she asked quietly.

Luo He's lips curved faintly. "For now," he replied. And that answer somehow carried both approval and expectation.

The reaction was immediate. Pride. Not quiet, not restrained but overwhelming. The Jin family, who had stood in shock moments before, now looked at Jin Mulan with something entirely different in their eyes. Awe. Respect. Even disbelief.

"An element" someone whispered.

"After generations" another murmured, voice trembling slightly, "no one has crossed that threshold in ages."

Elemental mastery was not just strength it was a dividing line. A point where a martial artist stopped being ordinary and stepped into something far greater.

And now it stood before them. Jin Mulan.

The first in their recorded history.

Jin Quan straightened, his chest rising with visible pride.

Jin Su's expression softened slightly, though her sharp eyes still studied every detail. "This changes everything," one of them said quietly. It did. The Jin family, once respected would now be noticed. Recognized. Valued differently.

"From today onward," another added, "we are no longer just another house."

Attention from the Emperor was no longer distant. It was inevitable. And at the center of it Jin Mulan stood silently, feeling the weight of that pride settle onto her shoulders.
