Chapter 1 - Seeing Kolkata, the city of dreams."

Misti was as sweet as her name. Her gentle smile, kind heart, and soft-spoken nature made everyone around her feel comforted. She lived in a small village where life was simple, yet full of quiet struggles. From a young age, Misti had dreams that stretched far beyond the boundaries of her little world.

When she was in Class 3, she first heard about Kolkata—a city full of lights, tall buildings, busy streets, and endless opportunities. Her teacher once described it as a place where dreams could take shape. That day, something changed inside her. A small dream was born in her heart—to study in Kolkata one day and see the city up close.

From then on, Misti studied with determination. Every book she opened, every lesson she learned, brought her a little closer to that dream. Her days were filled with hope, and her nights were full of imagination—she would often picture herself walking through the streets of Kolkata, carrying books in her hand, chasing her future.

For a while, life moved forward smoothly. Misti continued her studies with dedication, supported by her loving family. But fate had something else in store.

The year was 2020. A deadly disease spread across the world, bringing fear, loss, and uncertainty. The pandemic reached every corner, including Misti's small village. That year changed everything. The illness took away her father—the pillar of her family.

Misti was only in Class 8 at the time. She was too young to fully understand the weight of such a loss, yet old enough to feel its pain deeply. Her world, once filled with dreams, suddenly felt dark and uncertain.

Her family was left with only her mother, her elder sister, and herself. Her sister was still young, and there was no one else to support the family. Her mother, though heartbroken, gathered her strength and started working in other people's houses to feed her daughters. Every day was a struggle, but she never complained.

In the midst of this hardship, Misti's dream of going to Kolkata slowly faded into the shadows. It felt distant, almost impossible. She buried her desires deep inside, believing that dreams like hers were not meant for people like them.

But a mother's heart is different.

No matter how poor she was, Misti's mother held on to one belief—that her daughters deserved a better life. She knew the value of education and understood that it was the only way out of their struggles. Even if it meant taking loans or facing more hardship, she was determined to support her daughters' dreams.

Time passed, and Misti grew stronger. She continued her studies despite all the challenges. There were days when she felt like giving up, but something inside her kept pushing her forward. Maybe it was her father's memory, or maybe it was that childhood dream she could never fully forget.

Her hard work paid off. Misti passed her Madhyamik examination with good marks, making her family proud. Later, she also did well in her Higher Secondary exams. These achievements gave her a new sense of confidence.

One evening, after gathering all her courage, Misti sat beside her mother and spoke her heart out. Her voice trembled, but her eyes were steady.

"Ma," she said softly, "I want to study in Kolkata."

There was silence for a moment. Her mother looked at her—really looked at her—and saw not just her daughter, but a young girl filled with hope, strength, and determination.

Without hesitation, her mother nodded.

"Jabi," she said. "Tui jabi. Tor shopno ami puron korbo."

(You will go. I will fulfill your dream.)

True to her words, her mother went to the bank and took a loan. It wasn't easy. The burden was heavy, but her love was stronger. She arranged everything so that Misti could go to Kolkata and continue her studies.

The day Misti left for the city was emotional. She looked back at her home, her village, and her mother—her greatest strength. Tears filled her eyes, but this time, they were not of sorrow. They were of hope.

When she finally reached Kolkata, her heart raced with excitement. The city she had dreamed of for so many years was now right in front of her. The tall buildings, the crowded streets, the endless movement—it was overwhelming, yet beautiful.

Misti stood there for a moment, taking it all in.

This was not just a city.

This was her dream.

Life in Kolkata was not easy. There were struggles, adjustments, and challenges. But Misti faced them all with courage. She remembered her mother's sacrifices, her father's absence, and her own journey. These memories became her strength.

Every step she took in that city was a step closer to her dreams.

Misti was no longer just a girl from a small village.

She was a dreamer who dared to believe.

And Kolkata—the city she once only imagined—had now become the place where her dreams began to come true.

The

End.
