Chapter 4 - False Bonds

["W-Wait… wait! Please!"]

["I'm your sister! Don't abandon me!"]

[As Rui's expression grew more and more deranged, his "sister" became increasingly uneasy.]

[Though they were called siblings, there was not the slightest trace of warmth between them. What remained was only fear—and anxiety—from the sister toward her younger brother.]

"That sister… she seems really afraid of her brother…"

Elfman Strauss muttered as he watched the cautious, almost pleading way the girl spoke.

He quietly glanced at his own sister, Mirajane Strauss, and—just for a moment—imagined her talking to him like that.

That feeling…

As if sensing his gaze, Mirajane turned away from the sky and met Elfman's eyes.

Seeing it was her younger brother, she gave him a gentle, doting smile.

It was a perfectly sweet smile—

Yet in Elfman's eyes, it was terrifying.

He shivered instinctively and hurriedly turned his gaze back to the screen.

[The scene continued.]

["Shut up!"]

[Suddenly, as if irritated by her incessant pleading, Rui swung his hand in fury. Five razor-sharp threads instantly slashed across his sister's body.]

[Splurt!]

[In a single instant, her body was sliced into six pieces. The threads didn't stop there—they continued onward, cutting down a swath of forest behind her and kicking up a cloud of dust.]

Behind them, Tanjiro—who had been waiting for Nezuko to recover—was left utterly stunned.

It wasn't just him.

Across countless worlds, viewers felt their worldview shatter at the sight.

Even Donquixote Doflamingo was shocked.

When he had pulled the trigger on his own father and brother, he had struggled—justifying it to himself again and again before finally acting.

But this brat…

Didn't hesitate at all.

He simply tore his own "family" apart without a second thought.

Of course, part of Doflamingo's shock came from not knowing the truth—

That they weren't real siblings at all.

After all, who would expect someone to force others into playing "family" with him?

Compared to the stunned reactions of other worlds, the members of the Demon Slayer Corps remained relatively calm.

Especially the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa.

He, more than anyone, had the right to speak on this.

Back then, after his mother turned into a demon and lost all human emotion and reason, she had devoured five of his younger siblings—leaving only him and his brother, Genya Shinazugawa alive.

If not for his rare blood and desperate struggle—holding her off until sunrise—

Even he and Genya would have been eaten.

Seeing Tanjiro shocked by this, Sanemi couldn't hold back his irritation. He smacked the back of Tanjiro's head again.

"Why the hell are you shocked?! There's no real affection between demons!"

"In a situation like this, shouldn't you be glad your enemy just lost one ally?!"

"How did you even pass the Final Selection?"

"Sanemi, don't be too harsh on the younger ones."

Kagaya Ubuyashiki spoke gently from the side.

"…Understood."

Though reluctant, Sanemi lowered his head and obeyed.

[The scene continued.]

[After the dust settled, Rui looked at the remains of his "sister" with clear disgust.]

["In the end… none of you fulfilled your roles. Not once."]

["W-Wait!"]

["I did my job as your sister properly, didn't I?"]

["Give me another chance!"]

[On screen, the severed head—separated from the body—still pleaded tearfully, her face filled with terror.]

"Th-The dead… are talking!?"

Viewers across the heavens and countless worlds cried out in shock.

"Slurp…"

In the world of Naruto, Orochimaru licked his lips with his unnaturally long tongue, staring at the still-living severed head with fascination.

"Interesting… how very interesting…"

"A body that can rapidly regenerate from fatal wounds… one that can survive even as just a head…"

"I'd love to study them… the secret of immortality… might lie within their bodies…"

[The scene continued.]

["Then go kill all those wandering around the mountain. If you can do that, I'll forgive what just happened." Rui turned away, not even sparing her a glance.]

["I… I understand! I'll go kill them right away!"]

[Hearing that there was still a chance, the sister's severed head lit up with joy. She controlled her dismembered body, piecing it back together, then picked up her own head and ran into the depths of the forest.]

[A perfect example of "running with your head in your hands."]

"…That scene… is disturbingly bizarre."

Aboard the Thousand Sunny, Nico Robin couldn't help but comment.

"Yohohoho… it really is quite frightening."

Brook mimicked her—removing his own skull and holding it in his hands.

"No, no, no! You're way scarier!"

The Straw Hat crew shouted in unison.

[After the sister disappeared completely into the dark forest, only Rui, Tanjiro, and Nezuko—whose wounds had already healed and who was slowly regaining consciousness—remained on screen.]

["Kid, let's talk. Come out." Rui said calmly, looking toward Tanjiro's hiding spot.]

["Kid? Talk?" Tanjiro peeked out from behind the tree, his expression uneasy as he met Rui's gaze.]

[Rui gently placed his right hand over his chest and spoke softly:]

["I… am deeply moved."]

["After seeing your bond, my whole body trembles."]

["There must not be any words in this world that can express such emotion."]

["But unfortunately… you can only die by my hand."]

[Hearing this, Tanjiro instinctively pulled Nezuko into his arms. He couldn't deny that Rui had the strength to make good on those words.]

[Rui continued:]

["Isn't it tragic?"]

["If that's the case…"]

[His tone paused as he raised a finger toward Tanjiro.]
