To start, thank you for giving this novel a chance. I hope I don't let you down. But first things first, you'll have to understand a few things to enjoy the reading experience.
First note; this novel switches point of views and timeframe; you will notice based on the first CAPITALIZED and bolded word. Noticing the change in timeframe is easy, but the switching of point of views might confuse a few, so here's a an explanation;
The very main point of view is the main character's point of view. In first person's point of view. Expect words such as I, me, mine, etc.. And to determine that, the first word of that certain paragraph, is capitalized and bolded.
When the point of view switches to third person, a name will be bolded and capitalized and bolded.
To simplify;
"KILL him for me..." -> First Person's Point of View (MC's Point of View)
HAEL stood by the wide window... -> Third Person's Point of View
As for the timeframe, you will notice it when you see bolded and capitalized words and names :>
Second note; this novel uses a different calendar system, which is the 13-months system, each with 28 days, 4 equal weeks, totaling 365 days in a year; adding only one day on the 13th month when it's a leap year. And the current year where the novel first takes place is 1388, a leap year. Following the different calendar system is their names. This novel won't be using January, February, March etc.. Instead, we will be using zodiacs. And yes, there is a 13th Zodiac, which is Ophiuchus. For this calendar system, we will use the monthly[1]order of the zodiac signs for the name of the months.

February -> Aquarius
March -> Pisces
April -> Aries
May -> Taurus
June -> Gemini
July -> Cancer
August -> Leo
September -> Virgo
October -> Libra
November -> Scorpius
December -> Ophiuchus

We will be keeping Sunday, Monday, etc. names for each day, but it will barely be mentioned. The week starts from Sunday, by the way. As you go through this novel, you will see the date and time template: Month, Day, Year. Time of the day (in military time or 24hour system).
Example: Month of Capricornus, the 2nd day, 1388. 06:23.
Yes, that's Monday.
Third and last note, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT.
This novel has two main characters. I'm sure you've all figured it out from the title itself. In each volume, they will be taking turns in having the first person's point of view. I hope you're all catching up now.
