"PERVERT!" the girl yelled from the edge of the small pond, shielding her eyes and running behind a nearby tree. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING NAKED IN THE WOODS?! IDIOT!" She seemed to be blushing.
"You're the one spying on me!" Luffy shouted indignantly. The girl had just walked up and yelled! Who the hell did that?! She was just trying to take a bath! She didn't want her nose to hurt anymore!
"I WASN'T STANDING! I ONLY GET TO THIS PLACE WHILE…!", he paused before he could finish his sentence, "YOU KNOW WHAT?! IT DOESN'T MATTER! JUST PUT SOME CLOTHES ON!".
"THEY'RE WET, SO I CAN'T!" Luffy exclaimed, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. He was going to stand his ground. Besides, what did it matter? It was just skin. There's nothing weird about skin.
There was a pause in the air.
"Well, put them on anyway..." the girl replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, drastically lowering the volume of her voice.
Luffy stood firm. "I refuse," he replied. He was going to wash up. Besides, the water felt great! He wanted to relax a little longer before returning to the wolves, and this nap was perfect for him.
"WHAT THE HELL?! WHY?!" the unknown girl asked, turning up the volume once again.
"Because I don't want to!" Luffy shouted. And he really didn't want to. Although the girl could join if she wanted. She wouldn't mind. She used to share the bathroom with her brothers all the time. You know what? It wasn't a bad idea. "Hey! Why don't we share it?" the straw hat boy offered.
"WHAT?!" the girl screamed.
He laughed at the strange noise the girl had made. "Obviously you came to bathe! And to watch! Why don't we share it? You can watch all you want!" joked the black-haired boy, a smile spreading across his face. Makino had taught him all that. It had been quite embarrassing at the time. Now, however, he wasn't interested; that would come later. Although he didn't understand why she was shrieking like that. He thought everyone knew.
"WE WON'T SHARE..." he stopped abruptly. "Unless..." His gaze swept quickly around the tree, berry symbols in his eyes. "You pay me. Fifty thousand berries per second to be in the same bathroom as me."
Luffy's eyes snapped open. Wasn't that... a lot? He noticed the girl had shoulder-length orange hair and berry symbols in her eyes. He thought she was pretty, even with those strange eyes. Cool. But weird. However, before he could examine her more closely, her words registered. "I don't have any money..." the boy replied, a bead of sweat forming on his brow.
The orange-haired girl's eyes instantly returned to normal as she ducked behind the tree, just as Luffy thought he saw a brown flash. "Well, no deal, buddy! Either you get dressed or you leave!" he shouted.
There was another pause before the boy spoke again. "I refuse," Luffy repeated. He wasn't going to let some voyeur ruin his moment of relaxation. Besides, he'd gotten there first!
"You're impossible!" the girl huffed in annoyance.
The shouting stopped again, and silence reigned for a moment. This time it was longer. The girl was probably considering his offer.
"Finnneee... But only if you promise not to look," she finally said, breaking the silence.
Luffy laughed at the irony of his words: "I'm the one who should be worried that someone is spying!"
"I WASN'T LOOKING!", he kept shouting without stopping.
"I don't believe you," the black-haired boy replied, sticking out his tongue. He turned and grabbed his clothes from under the small waterfall, hanging them out to dry along with his hat. When he finished, he closed his eyes, turned back to the girl, and submerged himself up to his waist. "You can get out now! My eyes are closed, I promise!"
There was another pause; the girl was probably gathering her courage. "If you look... You're going to owe me a lot of money," she said, peeking over the edge of the tree.
Luffy just laughed at his words: "Whatever! Come in! The water's great!" The black-haired boy heard the rustling of clothes and then a splash.
"Ahhhhh. You were right, this feels good," sighed the girl, hitting the surface of the pond with her head.
"I know, right?" Luffy exclaimed, beginning to float on his back, eyes closed, just as he'd promised. Being who he was, he didn't realize he was definitely showing his privates. Well... yes, he did, but he didn't care.
"Can you... not do that?" the girl asked, a hint of embarrassment in her voice.
Luffy sighed in relief. "If you don't want to see, don't look..." he began to laugh. "But I know you want to, you peeping Tom!"
"I wasn't spying!" the girl argued.
"He was too."
"It wasn't him!"
"He was too."
She snorted, and Luffy heard her swimming away. "What's your name?" he asked, following the fading sound.
"Why do you need to know my name? We probably won't see each other again..." He stepped back slightly from Luffy and looked into the boy's closed eyes. He started to descend before stopping and turning around, a slight blush on his cheeks. "Well, I won't see you again."
"What the heck?! Don't you want us to be friends?" Luffy asked as he lazily paddled around the pond, instinctively avoiding the girl. Getting too close could cost him his life...
"Why are you asking me that?" he asked.
She continued floating on her back, feeling her muscles melt away. "Why not? You know me pretty well," she laughed. The boy's eyes were starting to feel heavy, even closed, and he paddled more slowly. It felt wonderful. The water temperature was perfect. The girl's voice, mingled with the sound of the waterfall, was pleasant to hear. It was all so relaxing. "Besides," she yawned, "I like making new friends. And I think that's a good reason."
"Well... I think that's stupid," the anonymous girl said, frowning.
"So, why do you think it's stupid?" Luffy asked curiously. He was too tired to get angry because, in a way, he had called him stupid.
"Because I can't trust you. Being friends is about trust," she began. "You say you like making friends, but that doesn't make me trust you."
Luffy's mind was getting blurry with each passing second. "So until you trust me... we can't be friends?" he asked. The girl could do whatever she wanted. He wasn't going to hurt her. He just had a feeling. He had nothing to say about this whole trust thing right now. He'd find out when he woke up.
