Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Husband, The Assistant, and the Worst Plan Ever

Chapter 3: The Husband, The Assistant, and the Worst Plan Ever

Miller had made a decision.

A terrible one.

A reckless one.

A desperate one.

"…I will fix this," he whispered, staring at his reflection.

Pause.

"…Or I will die trying."

He nodded.

"…Preferably not dying."

Morning at the Mansion

Sunlight poured into the dining room.

Andro was already awake.

Of course he was.

Simple breakfast. Neatly prepared.

Two plates again.

One for him.

One for—

"…Good morning," Miller said awkwardly as he walked in.

Andro looked up.

A gentle smile.

"Good morning."

No hostility.

No suspicion.

Just kindness.

Miller felt worse.

The Most Painful Conversation

"…You didn't have to cook for me," Miller said.

"I didn't," Andro replied calmly. "I cooked for her."

"…Oh."

"…You can eat if you want."

"…I feel like I'm stealing."

Andro shook his head slightly.

"It's fine."

Silence.

Then—

"…She likes lighter breakfast," Andro added quietly. "Not too oily."

Miller froze.

"…You remember that?"

"Yes."

"…Does she know you remember that?"

Andro paused.

"…No."

Emotional Damage: Critical

Miller's New Plan (Certified Bad Idea)

Step 1: Make Cloe notice Andro

Step 2: Reduce her obsession with me

Step 3: Avoid being tortured to death

"…Simple," Miller said confidently.

Narrator: It was not simple.

Enter the Queen

Cloe walked in.

Perfect as always.

Cold as always.

Dangerous as always.

Her eyes landed—

On Miller.

"…You're here early."

"…Work ethic."

"…Good."

Her gaze shifted.

To the table.

To the food.

To Andro.

"…You cooked?"

"Yes."

"…Mm."

She sat down.

Took a bite.

Paused.

"…It's fine."

Miller almost choked.

FINE?! THIS MAN POURED HIS SOUL INTO THIS TOAST!

Desperate Attempt #6: Forced Appreciation

"This is amazing!" Miller suddenly said loudly.

Cloe glanced at him.

"…You said yesterday's food was average."

"…That was different."

"And this isn't?"

"This is—uh—emotionally seasoned."

"…Emotionally… seasoned?"

"Yes."

Andro.exe: Confused but Polite

"…Thank you," Andro said softly.

Cloe's Suspicion Level: Rising

"You're acting strange again," she said to Miller.

"…Growth."

"…You said that yesterday."

"…Consistent growth."

Miller Escalates the Plan

He turned dramatically toward Andro.

"You should cook for her more often."

Silence.

Then—

"I already do," Andro replied.

"…Oh."

"…She doesn't always eat."

Miller slowly turned toward Cloe.

"…Why?"

"I forget."

Miller's Brain: Breaking

YOU FORGET YOUR HUSBAND EXISTS?!

Desperate Attempt #7: Create a Moment

"Why don't you eat together?" Miller suggested.

"We are," Cloe said.

"…Properly."

Silence.

"…What does that mean?" she asked.

"Like… talking… bonding… emotional connection…"

Cloe blinked.

"…Why?"

Miller stared at her.

"…Because you're married."

"…Contract."

"…Still married!"

"…Irrelevant."

Critical Failure Achieved

Unexpected Twist

Cloe suddenly stood up.

"…Fine."

Miller blinked.

"…Fine?"

"I'll try."

She sat back down.

Looked at Andro.

Long pause.

"…How was your day yesterday?"

Andro froze.

"…Good."

"…That's all?"

"Yes."

"…I see."

Silence.

Miller buried his face in his hands.

This is worse.

Andro Tries (Softly)

"…You came home late," he said gently.

"Yes."

"…You had dinner?"

"Yes."

"…That's good."

Pause.

"…You should eat regularly."

"…I do."

"…That's good."

Silence again.

Miller's Conclusion

These two cannot communicate.

Sudden Attack

Cloe turned to Miller.

"…You talk."

"…What?"

"You wanted conversation."

"…Not like this!"

Miller's Improvised Chaos

"Okay! Let's play a game!"

"…A game?" Andro repeated.

"Yes. Simple. Ask each other questions."

"…Why?" Cloe asked.

"…Because humans do that!"

Round 1: Disaster

Cloe looked at Andro.

"…What do you do all day?"

"…Housework."

"…That's all?"

"Yes."

"…I see."

Miller: STOP SAYING 'I SEE' LIKE YOU DON'T SEE ANYTHING

Round 2: Worse

Andro looked at Cloe.

"…Are you tired?"

"No."

"…That's good."

Miller's Soul Leaves Again

Final Attempt: Maximum Effort

Miller slammed his hand on the table.

"You care about each other!"

Silence.

Cloe tilted her head.

"…Do I?"

Andro lowered his gaze slightly.

"…It's fine if you don't."

"…See?!" Miller pointed. "HE'S SAD!"

"I'm not," Andro said calmly.

"…YOU ARE!"

"…I'm used to it."

Emotional Damage: Fatal

Cloe's Final Judgment

She stood up.

"…This is pointless."

"…Wait—!"

She looked at Miller.

"…Come with me."

"…Where?"

"Work."

"…And him?!"

"He'll stay."

The Worst Outcome

As they walked out—

Miller looked back.

Andro was already cleaning the table.

Alone.

Quiet.

Like always.

Miller's Realization

I tried to push them together…

And somehow…

I made it worse again.

Final Scene

In the car—

Cloe suddenly spoke.

"…You care about him a lot."

"…I—what? No!"

"…Then why try so hard?"

"…Because—"

He stopped.

He couldn't say "because he dies and I get tortured."

"…Because it's right," he finished weakly.

Cloe watched him.

Long.

Careful.

Then—

"…You're strange."

"…I've accepted that."

"…But I don't dislike it."

Miller leaned his head back.

"…That's the problem."

End Note

The more he tries to save the male lead…

The closer he gets to becoming the female lead's favorite person.

"…I'm doomed," Miller whispered.
