Chapter 28 - TWENTY NINE

"Your father sure knows how to spend money, don't you think?" Ellen woke up from her reminiscence; to realize she was in a completely different setting, without remembering when she got into a car or arrived here. She turned to see who spoke to her and saw Chris standing behind her, with a broad smile. "Yes, he does." Ellen agreed, smiling back at him. Today, she looked more splendid with a bodycon floor length blue dress that brought out her matured body shape. It was sleeveless and very hot, as Chris thought, when he saw her at the church. He wanted to speak to her, but she was busy concentrating on the ceremony, and left before he could say hi. Ellen had on a golden necklace her grandma gave her, with golden heels that were very uncomfortable for her. She was dying in those things. They had to give her shorter heels, because she nearly emptied her mouth, when she tried on a longer one, during the preparation. She found herself wishing Henry could see her in this dress, as she got ready this morning, and shook her head to clear that thought with a blush. "By the way, I just have to put it out there that after the bride, you are the next beautiful lady here. You look more gorgeous than ever Ellen, except the obvious fact that those heels are making you uncomfortable, hahaha." Chris complimented and laughed, making her laugh too. "I really don't know how women survive in these things. My feet are killing me!" She commented, and they laughed. Chris being the gentleman he is, pulled a chair for her to sit, so she wouldn't hurt herself. He pulled one beside her to talk as the program started. Elena had changed from her wedding gown to a floral pattern dress to move freely at the reception. It was a great one as they danced and ate till nighttime. Isabella being the maid of honor, helped her get ready for her honeymoon trip, which would be outside Ghana this time, as George stayed with Aaron and the kids. The two women had wept for joy, when they met each other after so many years. Bella had pretended to be upset with Elena for leaving without saying goodbye, but smiled and hugged her friend when Elena apologized. She immediately agreed to be her maid of honor again. She was more pleased to meet Ellen, whom she last saw when she was a baby … "I think you and Steph will get along very well. She's your age and she's been wanting to meet you. Plus, she's also precocious." Chris said at their gathering with their fathers and they both agreed. "Um, who's Steph?" Ellen asked in confusion. "You don't know my daughter? I thought you've heard of her." George asked, astonished. "Oh sorry, my bad. She is my little sister, I thought I told you about her. She's studying abroad, so she couldn't be here even though she wanted to. She'll be back for summer break though, you two can meet then." Chris explained. "Oh, I see, I'd love to meet her too. Dad, where are you taking mom? You can surprise her, but you can tell me." Ellen said with a smile, changing the topic, as she batted her eyelids at her father, making them laugh. "Alright, I'll tell you, but you can't tell her, okay. (Ellen nodded) Your mom has always loved Paris, and that's where I'm taking her. I made a promise to take her there years ago. I intend on fulfilling that promise now." Aaron revealed to the admiration of his daughter, who hugged him, and his friend gave him a pat on his back. "Well, it's a good thing I'm going back to school then. I haven't lived on my own before." Ellen remarked. "That's true. We'll drop you off tomorrow after the Thanksgiving service, to school, then leave for the airport. Also, sweetheart, I want you to know you won't be staying in Nima anymore. Either I or Chris will come get you to our new home on your next vacation. The house will be your surprise, but feel free to tell me what you'd like in your dream home, and I'll make it happen. My daughter deserves everything she desire and wishes for." Aaron replied, pulling her on his lap. Ellen felt like she would explode with the extreme joy she was feeling. She snuggled up to him in a tight hug just as her mom came out with Isabella. Tonight, they were going to stay in George's house, as Aaron didn't want to take them home yet. Isabella was thrilled about this, and so was Chris, who thought of chatting the night away with Ellen. "Aren't you folks tired? The ride from Spintex to Nima is very far, and we have to wake up early for church tomorrow." Elena said, yawning. The dancing and merry making had gotten to her. Ellen got off her father and resumed her seat after hugging her mom. "I'm very happy mom, I know you are too. Thank you for doing this, and I'm glad we forgave dad." She whispered, when she hugged her, and Elena smiled. "What are you two smiling about?" Aaron inquired with interest. "Follow me if you want to find out. Goodnight, everyone, Ama go to bed, it's late." Elena replied and bade them goodnight, urging Ellen to go sleep. "You don't have to tell me twice. See you all tomorrow folks." Aaron said, and swept his wife off her feet, earning a shriek from her. "Break a leg buddy, but not in my house. Your honeymoon starts tomorrow." George spoke, earning laughter from everyone as they called it a day.
