Constable and Popo followed in her wake, scurrying through the air to keep up with her.
Anya pulled the door open and found her Daddy standing there, looking down at her.
She grinned up at him and pointed at her mouth. "I got my first fang last night," she declared proudly. "Are you proud of me?"
Alaric chuckled and bent down on one knee.
"Let me have a look at that," he said, placing a hand on her cheek as Anya continued to use both thumbs to keep her mouth peeled open.
"Yep, there it is," he agreed, nodding. "Your mother will be very excited."
"I showed her last night. It happened after you went to bed!"
Alaric nodded. "Well then, maybe she's got a special breakfast planned for you today."
Anya's eyes went wide—one blue, one crimson. She bit her lip and nodded excitedly, then gestured with her arms extended, her hands opening and closing a few times expectantly.
Her father got the hint.
