Hiroto closed the door behind him and collapsed onto the bed with a long, exhausted sigh.
The room was quiet. Too quiet. All he could hear was his own heartbeat and the faint murmur of the village square outside the window. Moonlight filtered through the small opening, casting soft shadows on the wooden walls.
He stared at the ceiling, the events of the day crashing over him like waves.
Strength 7… Charm 16…
I almost died today because my punch felt like a gentle pat. I got laughed at by goblin women. I got protected again. Again.
He sat up slowly, clenching his fists until his knuckles turned white.
"I'm done being the weak guy."
His voice was low, but it carried real steel in it.
"I died once as a weak, useless guy who couldn't even protect himself. I spent my whole life watching other people live while I just existed. I'm not going to repeat that mistake here. If this Harem Lord Road is real… if this system actually gives me a chance… then I'm going to grab it with both hands. I'm going to get stronger. Strong enough to stand beside Sylvara. Strong enough to protect myself. Strong enough to actually become someone who matters in this world."
He took a deep breath, the determination in his chest burning hotter than ever.
"I don't want to be the fragile guy everyone protects or stares at like a toy. I want to be the one who can protect others too. Even if it's hard. Even if it hurts."
A soft knock sounded on the door.
"Come in."
Sylvara entered, still wearing most of her armor but without the heavy shoulder plates. She closed the door and leaned against it, studying him with those sharp emerald eyes.
"You were talking to yourself again," she said softly. "That determined look… you're really serious about getting stronger, aren't you?"
Hiroto didn't deny it.
"Yeah. I am. I know I'm weak right now. Pathetic, even. But I refuse to stay like this. If this system is giving me a second chance, I'm not going to waste it hiding behind you forever."
Sylvara was quiet for a long moment. Then she walked over and sat on the edge of his bed, closer than before. The faint scent of metal and sweat from the earlier fight reached him.
"Most rare males I've met either break under the pressure… or become spoiled little pets who enjoy being protected." Her voice was softer than usual, almost gentle. "You seem determined not to be either. That's rare. And… refreshing."
She reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair from his forehead. Her touch was surprisingly soft, yet carried an undeniable weight.
"If you truly want to grow stronger, I can help you. But training with me won't be easy. And bonding with me…" she paused, her emerald eyes locking onto his with intensity, "won't be gentle. Are you ready for that?"
Hiroto's heart hammered, but he didn't look away.
"I'm ready to try."
The System chimed softly.

Sylvara noticed the faint glow and smiled, this time with a hint of challenge and something warmer.
"It's rising faster than I expected. Your Charm is dangerous… even if your body still needs a lot of work."
She leaned in just a little closer, her breath brushing his ear, her voice a low, sultry whisper.
"Careful what you wish for, little male. Once we start… there's no going back. And I don't do things halfway."
She stood up slowly, but before leaving, she turned back one last time. Her expression was no longer just teasing — there was something deeper, almost possessive in her eyes.
"Sleep well tonight. Tomorrow, we'll see just how serious you really are about changing."
At the doorway, she paused.
"Oh, and Hiroto?"
"Yeah?"
Her lips curved into a dangerous, promising smile.
"If you keep looking at me with those determined eyes… I might start wanting to keep you all to myself."
She closed the door with a soft click.
Hiroto flopped back onto the bed, heart racing, mind spinning with a chaotic mix of fear, excitement, and resolve.
72%… This bond system is way too dangerous.
But if getting stronger means getting closer to her… then I'll take the risk.
This second life just stopped being a joke… and started becoming something worth fighting for.
