Part I: The Address (Psychological Thriller)
The doctor lived in a lighthouse. Forty miles up the coast. Elias drove. Cass sat in the back with Mara, holding her hand.
"Don't touch me," she said. "I might steal your memories."
"Take them," he said. "They're yours anyway."
She didn't touch him. But she wanted to.
The flip phone buzzed. Simone's number.
I know where you're going. I'll be there first. Bring the key or I burn the lighthouse with him inside.
Mara typed back: What do you want with him?
He knows who I really am. And who you really are. You're not Mara. You're not Kaelen. You're the first. The original. The one who invented the wipe.

Part II: The Lighthouse at Dusk (Literary Interlude)
They arrived as the sun set. The lighthouse was white, peeling, beautiful. Waves crashed against rocks. Seagulls circled.
Cass got out first. He scanned the perimeter. "No cars. She lied."
"Or she's already inside."
Elias stayed by the car, shotgun ready. Cass and Mara walked to the door. It was unlocked.
Inside: a spiral staircase, a desk covered in medical journals, and an old man in a wheelchair. His name was Dr. Aris. He had no hair, no eyebrows, and eyes that had seen too many centuries.
"I've been waiting for you," he said. "The original. The one who started all of this."
Mara stepped closer. "I don't know you."
"You designed the memory wipe. For yourself. Because you couldn't live with what you'd done."
"What did I do?"
Dr. Aris looked at Cass. Then back at Mara.
"You killed your own sister. Not Vera. Your real sister. Simone."
Mara stumbled back. Cass caught her.
"Simone is your sister," the doctor continued. "She survived. But she lost her face. Her voice. Everything. She's been chasing you for thirty years to make you remember."
Mara looked at the silver key. "And this?"
"Opens the vault where you stored your original memories. All of them. The good and the unspeakable."
"Where is the vault?"
The doctor smiled. It was terrible.
"In the basement of the house you just left. Under the freezer. Under the concrete. You've been sleeping on top of it for eight years."

Part III: The Choice (Action Seed)*
Cass turned to her. "Don't do it. Some memories should stay buried."
"She's my sister, Cass. I have to know."
"She'll kill you the moment you remember."
"Then she'll kill me."
Mara ran for the door. Cass followed. Elias honked the horn. Behind them, the lighthouse began to smoke.
Simone had been there after all. She had set a timer.
They drove back as the lighthouse burned.
