Chapter 14 - Class Alpha

In a certain cellar of the Romulus rehabilitation facility, Dick was calmly reading a book.

Dick glanced up and for a second, he felt Chaos surging near the borders of Kharagen. He froze and then grinned, pushing his glasses up with one finger.

"Finally, right on schedule."

He strolled over to the prison telephone and swiped his card. It beeped like a dying microwave and allowed him access. Then, he dialed a number he was absolutely not supposed to know.

After a few rings, someone answered in a hushed, dramatic voice.

"Father Dick… It's happening, isn't it?"

"Oh yes, my child," Dick said cheerfully. "The traumatized toddler bit off more than he could chew."

"Splendid. I'll inform the archbishop."

"Tell him to take good care of my hat." Dick added.

"Yes, Father. Blessings of anarchy upon you."

"And upon your questionable life choices. Good night."

Dick hung up, stretched like a man clocking out of his shift, and walked back to his bed. He flopped down, pulled the blanket over himself, and smiled.

'Finally… I can sleep well.'

He was out cold in seconds.

Krishna, Henry, Eira and Mary approached the raging Missio.

His primal screams tore through the forest, snapping the branches. The earth began to crack and be flattened under Missio's power. The team huddled together, knowing they couldn't stop their captain.

Krishna looked towards his best friend with sorrowful eyes. Gritting his teeth, he furrowed his brows and closely held his coworkers.

Eventually, Missio's rampage halted. He released his head and fell, blood flowing from his eyes. His wings also disappeared, being sucked back into his scapula. The team let go of their ears and rushed over to their captain.

The Lieutenant General lay in the middle of a perfectly circular crater - sobbing. Krishna slid down first, nearing his best friend. Kneling beside him, he heard his soft whimpers and bit his lip.

'Damn it…What did that bastard do?'

He picked Missio up by his shoulder. Missio's body limped, devoid of any strength

'He's exhausted all his Will…'

Henry arrived and picked him up by the other shoulder.

"Hurry, let's go."

Krishna nodded and began climbing out of the crater with Henry. As they reached the top, Eira and Mary rushed over to them.

"I-Is he okay?" Mary inquired.

"Yes, let's get him to safety first." Henry replied, stepping forward.

Suddenly, the sky started to churn, the air vibrate and ground shake. Sparks of electricity crackled in the air, growing bigger with passing time. Eira's face went pale.

"C-Chaos…"

Krishna, Henry, and Mary's eyes widened. Something ancient and unfathomable began dancing to the surge of Chaos, colors began bleeding into one, the trees twisted and split apart, the rain fell horizontally and then, finally…

One, final massive bolt struck down and reality split open. A Chaos fragment spawned in the crater. Flooding the crater with large grey-skinned, crimson eyed beasts.

In the control room of the AEOC Special Ops division HQ, a team of scientists were sitting, continuously checking the Nation for any fluctuations. Behind them, a man who seemed to be in his forties strolled around, checking each screen with focus. Then, out of the blue, a scientist from the front row spun around and shouted at him.

"Sir! It's an Alpha class chaos fragment! Near the borders of Kharagen!"

The man narrowed his eyes. "Inform the Lieutenant General, immediately!"

A few minutes later...

Several individuals wearing black outfit rushed into the compartment of a black jet. The doors closed behind them as the air marshal guided the plane in the right direction. After a few moments, it accelerated and lifted off into the thunderous heavens. It disappeared into the clouds without a trace while carrying the first unit led by the lieutenant general.

Krishna and Henry ran from the Chaos fragment while carrying Missio on their shoulders, their movements in sync. Eira and Mary trailed behind them; their clothes soaked from the endless rain. Suddenly, a Chaos beast roared, sending chills down all of their spines except for Krishna. They ran even faster, pushing their feet against the muddy floor.

Eventually, they made it to their landing spot. A few second alter, they took shelter under the tree where there parachutes were hidden. Krishna and Henry leaned the unconscious Missio on the trunk and fell beside him. Eira and Mary mirrored their actions. All of them drew sharp breaths rapidly, trying to relax.

"Now…what do we do?" Mary asked, clutching her chest.

"The First unit will take care of this – not our problem." Krishna replied.

"And…they should be appearing…"

As Henry spoke, the team heard something cut through the air. Eira glanced up and saw a black jet flying through the clouds.

"The C-3 raider…" She muttered in awe.

Inside the dark compartment, all the members of the first unit were warming up for the upcoming battle.

However, out of all of them, a group of five stood out the most.

The leader was a man with silver hair, crystal-like blue eyes and pale skin deprived of sunlight for many years. He sat with a katana tucked between his arms but the most outstanding part about him was the two-star insignia on his chest.

He was Arthur von Ashking – Lieutenant General of the AEOC's Special Ops division.

Beside him were his teammates – the caring Harvey who was a bulky older man with dark hair, eyes, a sizable beard and scars spread across his pale-skinned body from too many battles.

Then, there was the intellectual Amelia, a pale woman with a slim stature who had short gray hair and sparkling green eyes.

The quiet Kay, a man with curly terracotta hair and hazel eyes who hid in the darkness.

The lovely Maple, a woman with long silver hair like Arthur's and blue eyes just like him.

They all stood beside their captain awaiting the moment when the gates would open. After a few minutes, the door slowly opened, revealing the inside of the clouds being rattled by thunder and hail.

The plane lowered and the first unit could see the ground which was crawling with Chaos beasts. Arthur stood up and slowly walked towards the edge, eyeing the grey-skinned monsters. He crossed his arms, shouting in an encouraging manner.

"Ready yourselves! None shall fall under my command!"
