Chapter 61 - Giving Junpei a Power Up

After stabbing this person to death with another trident strike, Shin nodded at Satoru and said, "It's over, Gojo-sensei. The rest are of no use."

Satoru said, "Eh? You don't need them anymore? Shin, don't you have any other experiments you want to do? Let's just do them all today."

"Ah, alright then. It just so happens I have quite a few experiments left to do, so I'll have to trouble Gojo-sensei to help me check the results."

Satoru's Six Eyes could clearly see the physical changes after the experiments. For Shin, having his help saved a lot of trouble.

"Then let's continue with the cursed object extraction experiment."

After creating an incarnation and extracting it using a Command Block, the person from whom the cursed object was extracted did indeed return to their original state, but they just stood there blankly without moving, though their breathing and heartbeat were completely normal.

Satoru discovered the anomaly with just a glance of his Six Eyes. "The soul has been crushed. An ordinary human soul cannot compete with a Cursed Spirit for control of the body. Even if you extract the cursed object, the soul will not recover."

/Soul Resurrection

Following the command, the soul that had been crushed by the Cursed Spirit was restored, and the person who had been standing there blankly returned to normal.

"The experiment was a success. Next item... let's try to resurrect the human soul while extracting the Cursed Spirit's soul."

The experimental results were fairly successful. The body twisted by the cursed object could not return to its original state, but at least it retained the consciousness of a human and the Cursed Technique of a Cursed Spirit. The only difference from directly granting a Cursed Technique might be the addition of an ugly appearance.

After all the experiments were finished, Satoru and Shin returned to Jujutsu High.

Shin needed to replenish his experience points before he could help Megumi's sister by extracting Yorozu's soul, though Junpei's Cursed Technique issue could be solved first.

Junpei was actually born with a Cursed Technique, but he lacked the neural pathways in his brain to activate it. However, Shin felt that his innate Cursed Technique was a bit weak, so he prepared to give him a stronger one. Although a Cursed Technique is bound to life, Shin could strengthen it based on his basic Cursed Technique.

"Junpei, are you ready to welcome your brand-new power? The process might be a little painful."

Junpei nodded. "Yes. I am ready. I can accept any pain."

"Good, then..."

/Strengthen Yoshino Junpei's Cursed Technique to the limit

/Change Yoshino Junpei's brain pathways to enable him to use Cursed Technique

Junpei instantly felt as if someone had shoved a blender into his brain and stirred it, the intense pain caused him to pass out immediately.

While unconscious, in his hazy consciousness, he seemed to sink into an ocean. His body seemed to have turned into a jellyfish in the ocean, and all around him was a large group of sky-blue jellyfish gathered into a large mass, wrapping him in the center.

But very soon, he regained consciousness, though his mind was still a bit dazed.

"Uh... was that just now a Domain Expansion?"

Shin reached out to pull him up and asked, "Are you alright? You should be able to use your Cursed Technique now."

Junpei nodded, raised his hand, and activated his Cursed Technique. In an instant, small, round, blue jellyfish emerged from his palm, and in no time, they gathered into a large pile surrounding him.

Shin asked, "Are these little guys your Shikigami? It looks like a summoning-type Cursed Technique."

Junpei shook his head. "No, they aren't my Shikigami, at least not just my Shikigami. They are more like... a part of my body."

As soon as he finished speaking, Junpei's entire body instantly turned into a large mass of small jellyfish, scattered, and then reassembled into two identical Junpei.

As for the small jellyfish that had been separated at the beginning, they split into two groups and surrounded both of them.

Shin curiously scooped one up and kneaded it in his hand. "It feels just like jelly, quite fragile."

As soon as he finished speaking, the jellyfish in Shin's hand exploded, turning into a puddle of blue liquid. After coming into contact with this blue liquid, the flow of Cursed Energy throughout Shin's body became very difficult, and it even felt as if his soul was slowly becoming dull.

"Ah... Jun... pei... this... jelly... fish... is... poi... sonous..."

Junpei hurriedly reassembled into one and then removed the cursed toxin from Shin's body.

"Sorry, Kagura. These children have their own consciousness after being separated. They might have been throwing a tantrum just now. Once I get used to the Cursed Technique, this won't happen again."

Junpei's new Cursed Technique allows him to turn into jellyfish himself, or consume Cursed Energy to create small jellyfish. When his limbs are damaged, such as if a hand or foot is broken off, he can use Cursed Energy to create small jellyfish and merge them into his body to regrow them.

The jellyfish's tentacles inject toxin into any enemy they touch. Even if the opponent uses Cursed Energy to defend, the toxin will first blend into the Cursed Energy used for defense and then seep into their body.

He can also carry out suicide attacks, self-destructing to splash the toxin everywhere.

A Cursed Technique that strengthens the paralysis effect in Junpei's Cursed Energy is simply invincible for crowd control.

"Alright, Junpei, continue researching your Cursed Technique on your own. I have things to do, so I'll be heading off first."
