Chapter 5 - Level 3! Blood Lord Talent

[Congratulations, you have leveled up to Level 3!]

[You have gained 5 points in all attributes, and 5 free points to distribute.]

"Finally," Faust said with a smile. He willed his status to appear

[Name: Faust Havlicek]

[Level: 3 (0/300)]

[Constitution: 33 > 38]

[Strength: 16 > 21]

[Agility: 15 > 20]

[Spirit: 12 > 17]

[Schema: The Perfect Match]

[Schema Ability: Talent Replication, Instance Replication]

[Skills: Stealth Lv1, Appraise Lv1]

[Combat Power: 76 > 96]

[Origin Coins: 100 > 350]

[System: 10x Rewards]

He allocated his free points to Strength and Agility again without much thought and willed the system to show him the rewards he got.

[You have killed 50x "Blue Slime" and gained 150 experience points.]

[Origin coins: 250.]

[Blue Slime Core x50]

[25x Blue Slime Essence: Consuming will increase Constitution by 2.]

[17x Blue Slime Acid: Burns very quickly. Can only be neutralised with water magic.]

The usual. An extra fifty points to Constitution. He was becoming a tank, even though he wasn't planning on getting hit.

But the last two rewards were even more astounding.

[You have gained 2x Skill book (Acid Shot)]

[Slime Tether (Bronze): A rope that can be extended and retracted at will. It is sticky and very hard to break, but vulnerable to cutting attacks.]

"Let's fucking go. Slimes are national treasures," Faust joked.

[Acid Shot: Generate a spray of acid from any body part. Reduced effect against the user. Cooldown: ten seconds]

Now that was a perfect crowd control skill. The fact he got two must mean the loot table needed you to kill 25 or 30 slimes just for a slim chance to get the book.

This was something most players would pass over. Mostly because hunting hundreds of slimes just for a chance to get one Bronze grade skill book was a grind. And nobody would even know it dropped, unable to decipher the loot table until later in the game.

But his 100% Drop Rate System allowed him to easily guess how the table worked and exploit it.

Just to be sure, he killed five more slimes to see something.

[You have killed 5x "Blue Slime" and gained 5 experience points.]

[Origin coins: 25.]

[Blue Slime Core x5]

[2x Blue Slime Essence: Consuming will increase Constitution by 2.]

[2x Blue Slime Acid: Burns very quickly. Can only be neutralised with water magic.]

[You have gained Skill book (Acid Shot)]

Okay, so that confirms it. I have to kill 25 slimes to get one Acid shot skill book. As for Slime Tether, it looks like it's probably around 50 slimes for it to drop.

So with everything clear, Faust sat on the ground and began swallowing Essences five at a time. His face was screwed in annoyance as he held back from cursing his best friend, the system.

[You have consumed "Blue Slime Essence" and gained 2 Constitution.]

[You have consumed "Blue Slime Essence" and gained 2 Constitution.]

[You have consumed...]

It took five minutes to finish. He swallowed the last essence and grimaced, rubbing his belly. They didn't even fill him. This had to be illegal. Why make him eat so much and still get hungry?

[Constitution: 38 > 92]

His Constitution was almost five times as much as his second highest stat at this point. It was time to diversify his eating habits; find new monster essence.

Reaching into his spatial bag, Faust pulled out the one Slime Tether he had.

He slipped on the light blue wristband with a curious look. It had no obvious embellishments. It wasn't very stylish but he liked it.

[You have equipped Slime Tether]

Then he willed the tether to extend.

A light blue rope shot from the top of his wrist sinking into the tall grasses and latched onto the ground.

"Oou, nice."

He willed it to detract and it pulled him forward a little, skidding over the grass till he planted his feet. Sitting down and using it meant he was pulled, but once he planted his feet the rope continued to contract until it pulled a clump of dirt out of the ground to him.

This would be good for dragging enemies to him or climbing up treacherous cliffs quickly.

Once the dirt reached him the tether sunk back into the wristband and the dirt fell onto his blue jeans. Faust chuckled and brushed it off, then he reached for the skill books.

He took all three out. They were simple leather bound journals, quite small, and filled with strange inscriptions and drawings.

"Guess I'm not meant to understand this yet."

He willed the system to teach him the skill, but nothing happened. He studied the book for a while then tried to… feel the book, if that made sense.

Faust shook his head, smiling. As if anything made sense in his life now.

The skill book felt like a small blackhole, drawing at him, but taking nothing. So he tried to enter the skill book till he felt something flow out of him. Instinctively he realised it was mana.

The book glowed a bright white then disappeared.

[You have learned the skill "Acid Shot"]

Faust grinned at the ease of use, extending one hand out to activate the skill.

A jet of vaporous blue acid sprayed into the grass three metres around. The grass immediately started steaming and wilting quickly.

For testing sake Faust reached out and touched the vapor.

He hissed a little, but when he redrew his hand he found that his skin wasn't badly burnt, just reddened. So his Constitution was keeping up with the skill at least.

After that he tried absorbing the other skill books but it didn't work. You can't learn a skill twice. That made sense. He would just sell the skill books in the Novice village later. But he did want to get one more Slime Tether. To see if he could combine equipment like in games. So back to killing.

But this time he changed his strategy a little. He wanted to use Nirvana's Schema ability on the slimes.

[Schema: Blood Lord]

[Rank: Epic]

[Details: growing stronger by drinking blood and commanding dark forces.]

[Schema Ability: Attribute drain, Blood Regeneration]

Slimes didn't have blood, but they did have attributes, based on the fact they had combat power, meaning one of the abilities could be used.

[Attribute Drain]

[Grade: Gold]

[Details: Temporarily steal attributes from your enemies by making contact for a second. You can keep stolen attributes if you kill the enemy.]
