Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Roderick the Carpenter

The long table meeting at the castle continued into the afternoon.

Ed had many ideas for the seal, such as carving a lotus flower, a crane, or a dragon.

As for the material, could we make a stone? But it's easy to break if we drop it. Or how about a silver-white one? We don't have that option. Or how about a golden-yellow one? We don't have that option either.

Therefore, wood is the best choice at this stage.

After some thought, Ed decided to use a dragon for the seal, but the design alone was too plain, so he decided to add two words.

Um...

The characters "Yanhuang" are quite good; they not only enhance the overall quality of the seal but also serve as a counterfeit prevention measure.

Ed thought the seal looked good, so he looked at Roderick, who was still a bit reserved, and said:

" Roderick, I want to make a round cake, with a pattern carved on one side and a hand-held object on the other."

Of course, this thing could also be made in one piece, but Ed didn't know how to express it. He could only draw the general shape of the seal while talking to him and then push it in front of the carpenter.

Upon hearing Ed's words and hearing the Parchment being pushed towards him, carpenter Roderick quickly stood up and said:

"My lord, no problem. I will do my best to complete your task. My skills are the best in the entire territory."

The carpenter dared to boast because he had glimpsed that the structure of the things on the Parchment was very simple.

"Yes, Roderick, I'll give you the engraved design later."

Ed still believed Roderick could do the job well because he didn't intend to make the design too complicated.

The butler and Little Maid didn't find anything wrong with Ed's actions, as they were used to Ed's strange behavior these days.

The meeting was almost over. Ed was thirsty and instinctively reached out with his right hand, but there was nothing there. His right hand froze in place.

"Ah, it would be perfect if I had a cup of tea," Ed said with some regret.

Ed actually had many regrets. For example, he really disliked the name Grey Castle Territory. He didn't know why it was called Grey Castle. Was it because the castle was made of earth and was a bit dry, so when the wind blew, it would turn gray?

That wouldn't sound as good as "Hamburg," or "Wolfsburg," or even "Nuremberg" if all else fails. But Ed was just thinking about it casually.

But as Ed was thinking, he suddenly remembered something else: there was nowhere to post the documents, so they needed to create a place to post them.

Ed took Parchment and drew another picture of a bulletin board, roughly with an A-frame roof, a wooden board in the middle, and two legs at the bottom.

Ed pushed Parchment toward the carpenter and said, "Get these two done tomorrow."

"Yes, my lord, I will certainly do as you request."

Perhaps it was because Ed's two tasks were relatively simple that the carpenter was less anxious than before, or perhaps it was his carpentry skills that gave him confidence.

Seeing that the carpenter had calmed down a bit, Ed decided to teach him a lesson. "Do you even know how big it should be?"

The carpenter was somewhat dumbfounded; he genuinely didn't know how big to make it. These days, everything is compared to a physical object, like a rope or a stick. There's no standardized size.

Seeing the dumbfounded carpenter, Ed felt it was necessary to standardize the dimensions. No matter what standard was used elsewhere, there could only be one Grey Castle Territory.

Ed found a wooden stick about one meter long, divided it into 10 equal parts, and marked them with ink.

" Marcus, write down what I am about to say, and make all stone, wooden and iron tools according to this."

Ed pointed to the stick and said:

"One grid is one decimeter, and 10 grids make one meter..."
