Ed knows Adelaide's expression all too well; he's been so happy using paper these past two days.
But comfort is comfort, but it can't be comfortable all the time, so Ed has come to the village of Red Iron again because Roderick told him that the blast furnace is almost finished.
"My lord, you've finally arrived!" The massive body had barely finished speaking when it appeared before Ed.
Ed dodged Smith's embrace with a quick movement.
Blacksmith Smith smiled awkwardly, feeling a bit too proud of himself, because the blast furnace Roderick had built was exactly the furnace of his dreams.
This thing looks like an iron-eating monster standing here. Its tall body, the brick stairs on both sides for going up and down are like two big feet, the huge air vents are its eyes, and the feed inlet above is its mouth. The huge mouth looks like it is about to eat all the iron ore.
Smith couldn't imagine how much iron this furnace would produce. It was truly a magnificent structure, and he was even partly responsible for its creation. Just thinking about it filled him with excitement.
Ed was also somewhat shocked by the blast furnace, but it was much better than Smith's, after all, he was a man who had seen some of the world.
"Smith, prepare some more materials, and forge another batch of iron immediately." Ed wanted to see if this would work well.
"Go get the iron ore, go get the lime, go find the charcoal," Smith instructed the workers one by one to prepare the materials.
On the stairs used for transporting materials to the blast furnace.
"This is so useful now. You can transport the materials up from here and down from there," one of the men carrying iron ore said to the other carrying lime.
"Yes, it's much better than the previous one. I don't know how the lord came up with such a good idea to build such a large and efficient iron smelting furnace," the man carrying the lime replied.
"You two, stop talking and watch out so you don't fall," Ed warned the two people. The stairs didn't have handrails yet, and they could easily fall if they weren't careful.
"Stop talking, the lord told us to be careful." The two quickly and carefully began to move the materials.
"ignition"
As Ed's ignition sound rang out again, the blowers began to blast air into the blast furnace with a whooshing sound, much faster than before.
This time, Ed was much better off than last time and wasn't too anxious because he was certain of success. As time passed...
When the taphole opened, the molten iron flowed out much faster than last time, and the color of the molten iron changed from dark red to bright yellow, indicating that the temperature inside the furnace was much higher than last time.
Ed was somewhat pleased; this temperature should be suitable for firing cement.
Smith was as amazed as ever at the iron ore turning into a liquid that flowed out like water, even though he had seen it once before.
"Smith, stop looking at this. This molten iron is a little different from the iron you usually make by hammering iron ore," Ed called out to Smith, who was still in a daze.
"Different? What's different?" Smith was confused. Weren't they both iron? But the iron he had smelted last time had been sitting there, and he hadn't compared them and found any differences.
"Yes, Smith, this is how it is. The iron that is cooled after the molten iron is pig iron, while the iron that you make by repeatedly hammering is called wrought iron."
Smith was taken aback. Iron is divided into pig iron and wrought iron, but what is pig iron? And what is wrought iron?
Seeing his expression, Ander decided not to explain further and instead prepared to demonstrate it to him on the spot.
"Bring over the iron you forged last time and a piece of iron that you hammered."
