"What a strange pair of people." Adelaide continued to tidy herself up.
"Huh? Who threw my teapot rag around?" Adelaide picked up the black cloth from the floor and placed it in the corner of the long table.
This little incident didn't bother Adelaide. She finished her porridge and, seeing that the two who had gone to the toilet hadn't returned, she decided to go check on Sofia. After all, she was a bit bored, and it was snowing lightly outside.
Adelaide arrived at Sofia's door without encountering anyone along the way.
"Knock knock knock"
Because the castle was quiet in winter, Adelaide could hear Sofia moving around in the room very clearly.
The wooden door opened, revealing Sophia's head. "Ah! A ghost!"
Sofia slammed the wooden door shut.
Adelaide turned to look at the deep corridor. Indeed, this was the first time she had ever observed the castle's surroundings so carefully. She was very familiar with the castle; it was just that Sophia's words had provoked her.
"Knock knock knock"
Adelaide continued knocking on the door, knowing that Sofia was still behind it and that there was no sound of her leaving inside.
The wooden door opened again. "Ah! A ghost!"
This time, Adelaide reacted quickly and slipped inside.
"Sophia, have you been staying in your room all day? You don't even recognize me anymore! I'm Adelaide!"
"Ah! You are?...Adelaide?" Sofia slowly circled around Adelaide, then stopped in front of her and looked her up and down.
"Haha, you're Adelaide?"
Adelaide was baffled by her laughter; one moment she was saying "ghost!" and the next she was laughing out loud. Could something be wrong?
"I'm not Adelaide, so are you?" Adelaide looked at Sofia with amusement.
Hearing Adelaide's words, Sofia laughed even louder.
"Hahaha"
The entire room was filled with her mesmerizing laughter.
Adelaide couldn't stand it anymore; she was going to leave Sofia there laughing all by herself.
When Sofia saw that Adelaide was about to leave, she quickly managed to suppress her laughter.
"Hey, Adelaide, I didn't mean to, don't go."
Adelaide stood angrily in the doorway. "Sophia, my name is Adelaide, not Adelaide."
"Oh, sorry, I just noticed you had a little extra stuff." Sophia looked at Adelaide, her laughter breaking again.
"Hahaha"
Adelaide looked at herself. Sophia said she had something extra, but no! She looked the same as when she woke up this morning.
"Sophia, I don't know what's so funny, but if I may ask, are you laughing at me?"
Adelaide found it strange that Sofia kept staring at her and laughing, which made her want to laugh too.
They say happiness is contagious, and Adelaide is about to catch it.
"Hahaha, yes, Adelaide, I'm laughing at you, don't doubt it."
So Sophia then started laughing without restraint. Adelaide didn't understand why, but Sophia's laughter was so captivating that she couldn't help but laugh along with her.
"Hahaha"
This is really going to get out of hand. The two of them looked at each other, unable to stop, really unable to stop.
A moment later
Sofia lay sprawled on the ground, completely unseemly, as did Adelaide. Only when they felt the coolness of the ground did they manage to stand up with difficulty.
Sofia, trembling, brought over a basin containing some liquid. She didn't know what it was, but she could see people's faces through the liquid.
"Adelaide, come and take a look for yourself." Sophia placed the basin on the ground.
So Adelaide went up to the basin.
"Ah! A ghost!"
