Ed's story made Carly, who always prided herself on being smart, secretly admire him. What kind of mind could come up with such a wonderful story?
A brief silence fell over the hall; none of the three spoke. Finally, it was the clever child, Carly, who broke the silence.
"Lord Edd, it is indeed short enough."
Ed was taken aback; what a child who couldn't speak.
"Carly, what do you guys think of the whole story?"
After speaking, Ed looked at Adelaide, wanting to know their opinions on the story.
"Master, your story is so memorable, it's hard not to remember it. Please don't tell it again."
Adelaide is now annoyed by the thought of bees. The buzzing in her ears still bothers her.
Ed remained silent, secretly amused. However, Carly, standing nearby, had a different opinion.
"Lord Eddard, I feel that your story is not long enough, and even the short ones could be longer."
"Huh? Carly, do you have an even better story to tell?"
Ed watched as Carly spoke with such conviction that she was practically standing on the table.
"Of course, I suddenly thought of a rather interesting story. Would you like to hear it?"
Carly looked at Ed and then at Adelaide.
Ed and Adelaide both nodded.
Once upon a time, there was a frog, croak...
quack...
Ed looked at Carly, who kept chattering away, with a strange expression. Haha, she's a quick learner! He couldn't help but applaud Carly.
"Okay, Carly, I want to hear your short story."
If we don't stop her, Carly will probably keep babbling until she can't babble anymore, since her story is longer than Ed's.
"Once upon a time, a frog, croak, suddenly jumped into the water."
"Then what?"
"Then it jumped up again."
"Then what?"
"Then it jumped down again."
"Then what?"
"Then it jumped up again."
"Then what?"
"Then it jumped down again."
........................
Adelaide stared at the two men in disbelief. Her left ear was buzzing and her right ear was croaking, with birds jumping up and down every now and then.
"Master, Carly, can you two please be quiet?" She really couldn't take it anymore.
The two ended this unfinished story in an instant. As the saying goes, "A thousand cups of wine are not enough when drinking with a bosom friend, but even half a sentence is too much when talking to someone with whom you don't see eye to eye."
Ed and Carly must have been kindred spirits in a past life, and they've met again in this one.
It must be said that Carly's story is even better than her predecessor's.
The short story eventually became a long story, and even more exciting than Ed's.
