Chapter 1 - Not So Grateful Fall

Why.. why am I falling?

As I passed the first layer of clouds I tried to gain my bearings and figure out what led to where I am. However my train of thoughts were quickly broken as I realized my back was in sheer agony.

"This has to be the most pain I've ever felt?!

my mind frantically repeated on loop until I realized even my age was unknown to me. Two arms quickly probed behind me for whatever was responsible for this torture. "AuGhH!" My hands flinched back instantly. It felt like… flesh was gone from two sections on my back. Like part of me was missing, brutally ripped off.

Other than that nothing else was wrong. Oh, except maybe the fact that I was almost to the ground. I started yelling but my lungs gave out quickly, still I exhausted my voice hoping that something would save me.

I was only a marble pillar's length away from hitting the ground, when suddenly the breeze from falling disappeared and I quickly realized that it had somehow slowed.

Attempting to widen my eyes in shock I realized that so had I.

"Alright, alright I'm still moving but I have time to figure something out. Wait, how do I know how long a marble pillar is…. What even is marble?!"

Realizing the ground would not wait for me I focused on anything i could remember, any memories that could give me context to my situation.

"I…who the fuck am I?"

Only half a pillar away I thought "Now is there anything on me that could help?!" I quickly looked down; well attempted to before time reminded me I was its captive.

I caught sight of an emblem tied to my waist that obscurely resembled wind in an artists view sort of way.

"I have to grab it!" I instinctively thought. Why though? Even as my hand ever so slowly closed the distance between the object the ground was approaching faster still.

However, mere moments before slamming into the floor at an impossible speed, I managed to get ahold of the shiny artifact and crushed it.

Suddenly the world was drowned in a torrent and sound of wind which swiftly cushioned my would-be lethal fall. As my head was mere pebbles distance away I unceremoniously fell to the ground on my face as the wind gave me no luxury of landing slowly.

The ground felt, well not at all soft but a weird sensation was also crawling across my skin.

I promptly wiped my face and realized that several small rocks had dug into it, I slowly realized that the sensation was apparently pain but my back had caused such agony I failed to realize it.
